Albemarle is a small city and the county seat of Stanly County, North Carolina. The population was 15,903 in the 2010 Census. Gerald R. "Ronnie" Michael serves as Mayor and Albemarle has a seven-member City Council elected in a combination of at-large and district seats. Albemarle has operated under the Council-Manager form of government since 1962. Michael Ferris has served as City Manager since December 2014 and previously served as Assistant City Manager for nearly two decades. The City Manager is appointed by the City Council, and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of City government. The City's Department Heads report directly to the City Manager, who is also responsible for development and administration of the City's annual budget.

Old Salem is a historic district of Winston-Salem, North Carolina that was originally settled by the Moravian community in 1766 . This small city features a living history museum that interprets the restored Moravian community. The non-profit organization began its work in 1950, although some private residents had restored buildings earlier. As the Old Salem Historic District, it was declared a National Historic Landmark (NHL) in 1966. and expanded in 2016. The district showcases the culture of the Moravian settlement in North Carolina during the 18th and 19th centuries, communal buildings, churches, houses, and shops.

The Davis–Adcock Store is a historic general store located at Wilbon, North Carolina, a crossroads north of Fuquay-Varina, in Wake County, North Carolina. The building was constructed in 1906, and is a one-story, frame, gable-front building, with a standing-seam metal roof and a stepped-parapet false front. The community store served not only as a local distribution center for goods and services, but also as a center of community social life. The building also housed the local post office from 1906 until 1925.

It was built in 1912 after the June 12, 1911, fire destroyed several downtown buildings including the previous home of the town hall, Poe Brother's Store.

Both buildings were designed by architect Alex B. Mahood and built in 1917. They were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.
Market House Square District is a national historic district located at Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina. It encompasses 11 contributing buildings in the central business district of Fayetteville. The district includes six storefronts and a major store, an office building, a former Knights of Pythias Building, and the First Citizen's Bank Building, all of which date between 1884 and 1926 and ring the separately listed Market House. The First Citizen's Bank Building was designed by architect Charles C. Hartmann and built in 1926.
