Variety Studio: Actors on Actors, also referred to as Actors on Actors, is an American entertainment talk show television series coproduced by PBS SoCal and Variety Media. It premiered on December 21, 2014, on PBS SoCal. [1]

Production

New episodes are produced twice yearly, once to align with the Academy Awards and once to align with the Emmy Awards.

Reception

The series has been honored with a number of awards, including the 2019 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Series, and a 2023 Daytime Emmy Nomination for Arts and Popular Culture Program.

The 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, honoring the best achievements in film and television performances for the year 2016, were presented on January 29, 2017 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, United States. The ceremony was broadcast on both TNT and TBS 8:00 p.m. EST / 5:00 p.m. PST. The nominees were announced on December 14, 2016.

The Morning Show, also known as Morning Wars in Australia and Indonesia, is an American drama television series starring Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carell that premiered on Apple TV+ on November 1, 2019. The series is inspired by Brian Stelter's 2013 book Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV. The show examines the characters and culture behind a network broadcast morning news program. After allegations of sexual misconduct, the male co-anchor of the program is forced off the show. Aspects of the #MeToo movement are examined from multiple perspectives as more information comes out regarding said misconduct. Subsequent seasons focus on other political topics and current events, including the COVID-19 pandemic, racial inequality, the Capitol insurrection, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

<i>The Color Purple</i> (2023 film) Film by Blitz Bazawule

The Color Purple is a 2023 American musical period drama film directed by Blitz Bazawule. Marcus Gardley's screenplay is based on the stage musical of the same name, which in turn is based on the 1982 novel of the same name by Alice Walker. It is the second film adaptation of the novel, following the 1985 film directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by Spielberg and Quincy Jones. Spielberg and Jones return as producers for the 2023 film, along with its Broadway producers Scott Sanders and Oprah Winfrey, the latter of whom also starred in the 1985 film.

Close Up with The Hollywood Reporter is an American entertainment talk show television series co-produced by Penske Media and AMC Networks. It premiered August 8, 2014 on SundanceTV. The show was also exhibited on The Hollywood Reporter Youtube Channel, focusing on Emmy and Oscar nomination season. Since the roundtables of late 2021, The Hollywood Reporter does not make use of the Close Up name anymore, returning to its previous name, The Hollywood Reporter Roundtable.
