Venture Transport was the largest independent bus operator in North East England. It operated services in the Derwent Valley between Consett and Newcastle upon Tyne.

It was founded after World War I. [1] On 1 May 1970, it was sold to the Northern General Transport Company with 86 buses. [2]

Resurrection of the Venture name

Shortly after deregulation, Go-Ahead Northern brought back the Venture name for services from the former Venture depot in High Spen. [3] [4] More recently Go North East has reintroduced the name to promote services in the Consett area.

In 1990, it became part of Iveco which used the brand for various types of specialised vehicles in the United Kingdom. The range of models produced included EuroMover, Pacer and Strato, which are aimed at refuse collection, recycling and construction operators.

Go North East British bus operator

Go North East is the largest of the three main bus operators in the North East of England, the others being Arriva North East and Stagecoach North East. It operates both local and regional services within and across North East England, as well as in North Yorkshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Maidstone & District Motor Services

Maidstone & District Motor Services was a bus company based in Maidstone, Kent. The company operated bus and coach services in Mid and West Kent and East Sussex from 1911 until 1998. The company's surviving operations were absorbed into Arriva Southern Counties.

London Country Bus Services

London Country Bus Services was a bus company that operated in South East England from 1970 until 1986, when it was split up and later sold as part of the bus deregulation programme.

London Country North West

London Country North West was a bus operator in South East England and London. It was formed from the split of London Country Bus Services in 1986, and operated a fleet of around 360 buses from five garages, with its headquarters located in Garston.

London Country South East

London Country South East (LCSE) was a bus operator in South East England and London. It was formed from the split of London Country Bus Services in 1986 and operated a fleet of around 170 buses from four garages, with its headquarters located in Northfleet. It was rebranded as Kentish Bus in 1987 and used this name for most of its existence. Its former garages and operations now form part of Arriva Southern Counties and Arriva London, though several of its former major routes, such as Crawley to Redhill, which passes Gatwick Airport, were passed on to Metrobus.

The Albion Aberdonian was an underfloor-engined bus designed and manufactured by Albion Motors between 1957 and 1960, it was introduced as a longer derivative of the Albion Nimbus.
