Vera Yuryevna Rebrik (Russian : Вера Юрьевна Ребрик; Ukrainian : Віра Юріївна Ребрик; born 25 February 1989) is a Russian track and field athlete who competes in the javelin throw. [1] [2] Her personal best throw is 67.30 metres, achieved at the Russian Championships in Adler. She also holds the world under-20 record of 63.01 metres. [3]
From Yalta, Crimea, she competed for Ukraine until 2014, after which she transferred her eligibility to Russia, following the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation.
Due to Russia currently being suspended from all international athletic competitions, Rebrik participates as a neutral athlete. [4]
Yelena Gadzhievna Isinbayeva is a Russian former pole vaulter. She is twice an Olympic gold medalist, three-times a World Champion, the current world record holder in the event, and is widely considered the greatest female pole-vaulter of all time. Isinbayeva was banned from the 2016 Rio Olympics after revelations of an extensive state-sponsored doping programme in Russia, thus dashing her hopes of a grand retirement winning the Olympic gold medal. She retired from athletics in August 2016 after being elected to serve an 8-year term on the IOC's Athletes' Commission.
