Cochabamba, from Quechua qucha or qhucha, meaning "lake", pampa meaning "plain", is one of the nine departments of Bolivia. It is known to be the "granary" of the country because of its variety of agricultural products from its geographical position. It has an area of 55,631 km2. Its population in the 2012 census was 1,758,143. Its capital is the city of Cochabamba, known as the "City of Eternal Spring" and "The Garden City" because of its spring-like temperatures all year.
Cochabamba is a city and municipality in central Bolivia in a valley in the Andes mountain range. It is the capital of the Cochabamba Department and the fourth largest city in Bolivia, with a population of 630,587 according to the 2012 Bolivian census. Its name is from a compound of the Quechua words qucha "lake" and pampa, "open plain." Residents of the city and the surrounding areas are commonly referred to as cochalas or, more formally, cochabambinos.
Punata is a province almost in the middle of the Cochabamba Department, Bolivia, located about 45 km south of the city of Cochabamba. Its capital is Punata. The province is limited to the north by the Chapare Province, to the north-east by the Tiraque Province, to the east by the Arani Province, to the south-east by the Mizque Province, to the south by the Esteban Arze Province and to the west by the Germán Jordán Province.
Punata is the capital of Punata Province and Punata Municipality in Cochabamba Department, Bolivia. At the time of census 2012 it had a population of 19,559 inhabitants and at the census 2012 the populations rose to 28.707 inhabitants. People from Punata and surrounding areas used to be called “Vallunos” meaning coming from the valleys of Punata and other surrounding small towns. Punata is renowned for its wonderful agricultural market held every Tuesday where people from surrounding towns and rural villages come to sell and buy.
Villa Tunari or Tunari is a location in the department of Cochabamba, Bolivia. It is the seat of the Villa Tunari Municipality, the third municipal section of the Chapare Province. According to the census 2012 the population was 3,213 in the town which is an increment from 2,510 registered during the 2001 census.

Municipalities are the third level of administrative divisions, below departments and provinces. Some of the provinces consist of only one municipality. In these cases the municipalities are identical to the provinces they belong to.
Tarata Municipality is the first municipal section of the Esteban Arce Province in the Cochabamba Department, Bolivia. Its capital is Tarata. At the time of census 2001 the municipality had 8,715 inhabitants. Along with neighboring municipalities such as Arbieto, Cliza, Tolata, and Punata, much of its population lives abroad, mainly in Argentina,Spain, Italy, and the Washington DC area in the United States.

Tacachi Municipality is the fourth municipal section of the Punata Province in the Cochabamba Department in Bolivia. Its seat is Tacachi.
Villa Rivero Municipality or Muela Municipality is the second municipal section of the Punata Province in the Cochabamba Department in Bolivia. Its seat is Villa Rivero.
Villa Tunari Municipality is the third municipal section of the Chapare Province in the Cochabamba Department, Bolivia. Its seat is Villa Tunari. The population grew from 52,886 to 71,146 during 2001 to 2012 according to the census. Only 8,692 of the population are urban and are concentrated in the small towns of Villa Tunari (3.213), Eterazama (3,359) and Villa 14 the Septiembre (2,123). The municipality is famous for tourist especially the Villa Tunari town where the tourist industry is concentrated with infrastructure, and also because of the closeness of the Machia Park.
San Benito or Villa José Quintín Mendoza is a location in the Cochabamba Department in central Bolivia. It is the seat of the San Benito Municipality, the third municipal section of the Punata Province.
Tacachi is a location in the Cochabamba Department in central Bolivia. It is the seat of the Tacachi Municipality, the fourth municipal section of the Punata Province.
K'illi K'illi is a mountain in the Andes of Bolivia. It is situated in the Cochabamba Department, at the border of the Arani, Villa Rivero and Tacachi Municipalities of the Arani Province and the Punata Province. Its Spanish nickname is Elefante dormido because of its shape.
Misuk'ani is a 3,256-metre-high (10,682 ft) mountain in the Bolivian Andes. It is located in the Cochabamba Department, Esteban Arce Province, Anzaldo Municipality, west of the village of Matarani.
Jesús Lara Lara was a Bolivian writer, poet, novelist, linguist, indigenist, journalist and politician. He was a member of the Unión Nacional de Poetas y Escritores de Cochabamba.
