The 87th Assembly district of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. [1] Located in northwest Wisconsin, the district comprises the southeastquarter of Marathon County and much of the northern half of Waupaca County, along with parts of northeast Portage County and western Shawano County. It includes the cities of Mosinee, Marion, and Schofield, and the villages of Big Falls, Birnamwood, Eland, Elderon, Hatley, Iola, Rosholt, Rothschild, Scandinavia, Tigerton, and Wittenberg. The district also contains Rib Mountain State Park and Central Wisconsin Airport [2] The district is represented by Republican Brent Jacobson, since January 2025.
The 87th Assembly district is located within Wisconsin's 29th Senate district, along with the 85th and 86th Assembly districts. [3]

Located in north-central Wisconsin, the district comprises most of Marathon County, along with northern Wood County, and parts of northern Portage County, northwest Waupaca County, and western Shawano County. The district includes the cities of Wausau, Marathon City, Marshfield, and Mosinee.

Located in south-central Wisconsin, the district comprises the northwest corner of Dane County, including northwestern suburban and exurban Madison. It includes the city of Middleton and the villages of Black Earth, Dane, Mazomanie, and Waunakee. The 81st district also contains two wards on the far north side of the city of Madison which include the Cherokee Park, Sherman Village, North Lake Mendota, Lerdahl Park and Whitetail Ridge neighborhoods. The district also contains Governor Nelson State Park, Mendota Mental Health Institute and Middleton Municipal Airport. The district has been represented by Democrat Alex Joers since January 2025; Joers previously represented the 79th district from 2023 to 2025.

Brent William Jacobson is an American lawyer and Republican politician from Mosinee, Wisconsin. He is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, and represents Wisconsin's 87th Assembly district in the 2025–2026 term. He also currently serves as mayor of Mosinee, since 2015, and was formerly a member of the board of supervisors of Marathon County, Wisconsin.
