Charles Elwood Yeager is a former United States Air Force officer, flying ace, and record-setting test pilot. In 1947, he became the first pilot in history confirmed to have exceeded the speed of sound in level flight.
The Right Stuff is a 1983 American epic historical drama film. The Rutan Model 76 Voyager was the first aircraft to fly around the world without stopping or refueling. It was piloted by Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager. The flight took off from Edwards Air Force Base's 15,000 foot runway in the Mojave Desert on December 14, 1986, and ended 9 days, 3 minutes and 44 seconds later on December 23, setting a flight endurance record. The aircraft flew westerly 26,366 statute miles at an average altitude of 11,000 feet (3,350 m).
Yeager Airport is a public airport three miles (6 km) east of downtown Charleston, in Kanawha County, West Virginia, United States. It is owned by the Central West Virginia Regional Airport Authority. The airport hosts McLaughlin Air National Guard Base, home to nine C-130 Hercules aircraft of the West Virginia Air National Guard's 130th Airlift Wing, an Air Mobility Command (AMC)-gained unit of the West Virginia Air National Guard.

The flight took 9 days, 3 minutes, and 44 seconds and covered 24,986 miles (40,211 km), more than doubling the old distance record set by a Boeing B-52 strategic bomber in 1962.

His last year, 1986, he played for the Seattle Mariners. As of 2012, Yeager was the Los Angeles Dodgers' Major League catching coach. He was co-MVP of the 1981 World Series.

Stephanie Yeager is an American politician and a Member of the Kansas House of Representatives. She was selected by Democratic Party precinct committee members in Sedgwick County, Kansas on December 4, 2019, to succeed Democrat Brandon Whipple, who is resigning on January 13, 2020, to be sworn-in as mayor of Wichita, Kansas. Yeager was sworn in as a state representative on January 14, following a formal appointment by Governor Laura Kelly.
