The Yin Mountains,also known by its Chinese name as the Yin Shan or Yinshan and by various romanizations of the Daqing Mountains,are mountains in the Eastern Gobi Desert steppe of the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region of China. [1] The Yellow River borders the mountains to the south. [2] [1]
The mountains are mainly composed of very old metamorphic rock. [1]
Yin and yang,also yinyang or yin-yang,is a concept that originated in Chinese philosophy,describing an opposite but interconnected,self-perpetuating cycle. Yin and yang can be thought of as complementary and at the same time opposing forces that interact to form a dynamic system in which the whole is greater than the assembled parts and the parts are important for cohesion of the whole.
The Chinese mountain cat,also known as Chinese desert cat and Chinese steppe cat,is a small wild Felis species with sand-coloured fur,faint dark stripes on the face and legs and black tipped ears. It is endemic to the Tibetan Plateau of western China,where it lives in grassland above elevations of 2,500 m (8,200 ft). It has been listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 2002.

Such a diagram was first introduced by Neo-Confucian philosopher Zhou Dunyi of the Song Dynasty in his Taijitu shuo (太極圖說).
The Ordos Desert is a desert/steppe region in Northwest China,administered under the prefecture of Ordos City in the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region. It extends over an area of approximately 90,650 km2 (35,000 sq mi),and comprises two sub-deserts:China's 7th-largest desert,the Kubuqi Desert,in the north;and China's 8th-largest desert,the Mu Us Desert,in the south. Wedged between the arable Hetao region to the north and the Loess Plateau to the south,the soil of the Ordos Desert is mostly a mixture of dry clay and sand,and as a result is poorly suited for agriculture.
Yining,also known as Ghulja or Kulja,is a county-level city in Northwestern Xinjiang,China and the seat of Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture. Historically,Yining is the successor to the ruined city of Almaliq in neighbouring Huocheng County. Yining is the third largest city in Xinjiang after Ürümqi and Korla.
Purple Mountain or Zijin Shan is located on the eastern side of Nanjing in Jiangsu province,China. It is 448.2 metres (1,470 ft) high. Its peaks are often found enveloped in purple and golden clouds at dawn and dusk,hence its name.

The Five Great Mountains refers to five of the most renowned mountains in Chinese history,which have been the subjects of imperial pilgrimage by emperors throughout ages. They are associated with the supreme God of Heaven and the five main cosmic deities of Chinese traditional religion. The group associated with Buddhism is referred to as the Four Sacred Mountains of Buddhism,and the group associated with Taoism is referred to as the Four Sacred Mountains of Taoism.

The Mongolian Plateau is an inland plateau in Asia that lies between 37°46′-53°08′N and 87°40′-122°15′E and has an area of approximately 3,200,000 square kilometres (1,200,000 sq mi). It is bounded by the Greater Hinggan Mountains in the east,the Yin Mountains to the south,the Altai Mountains to the west,and the Sayan and Khentii mountains to the north. The plateau includes the Gobi Desert as well as dry steppe regions. It has an elevation of roughly 1,000 to 1,500 meters,with the lowest point in Hulunbuir and the highest point in the Altai.
Hengshan,also known as Mount Heng,is a mountain in southcentral China's Hunan Province known as the southern mountain of the Five Great Mountains of China. Heng Shan is a mountain range 150 kilometres (93 mi) long with 72 peaks and lies at 27°18′6″N112°41′5″E. The Huiyan Peak is the south end of the peaks,Yuelu Mountain in Changsha City is the north end,and the Zhurong Peak is the highest at 1,300 metres (4,300 ft) above sea level.
Mount Qiyun is a mountain and national park located in Xiuning County in Anhui Province,China. It lies at the foot of the Huangshan mountain range some 33 kilometres (21 mi) to the west of Huangshan City and is known as one of the Four Sacred Mountains of Taoism. Noted for its numerous inscriptions and tablets,as well as monasteries and temples,particularly dedicated to Xuantian Shangdi,the highest point of the mountain rises to 585 metres (1,919 ft).

Langshan,also known as Wolf Mountains or Lang Mountains,is a mountain range at the northwest corner of the Ordos Loop in Inner Mongolia,China. It is sometimes reckoned as part of the Yin Mountains.
Hobor is a town over 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of Jining in Inner Mongolia,China. Previously known as T'ao-lin,it is now the administrative center of the Chahar Right Middle Banner. Hobor is a crossroads town where roads linking the north of the province pass through the Yin Mountains to Jining and Hohhot (Kweisui) in the Yellow River valley to the southeast.
Khorgos,officially known as Korgas,is a county-level city in Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture,Xinjiang,China. It straddles the country's border with Kazakhstan;on the Kazakh side of the border is a city also named Horgos in Russian and Korgas in Kazakh.
The Jingyihuo railway,short for Jinghe–Yining–Khorgas railway,is the first electrified railway in operation in Xinjiang,China. The line is 286 km in length and connects Jinghe,Yining and Khorgos. The Jingyihuo railway branches from the Northern Xinjiang railway at Jinghe in the Junggar Basin and heads south through the Tian Shan range into the Ili River Valley. Cities and towns along route include Jinghe,Nilka County,Yining County,Yining,Huocheng County and Khorgos,on the border with Kazakhstan.
The Drumian is a stage of the Miaolingian Series of the Cambrian. It succeeds the Wuliuan and precedes the Guzhangian. The base is defined as the first appearance of the trilobite Ptychagnostus atavus around 504.5 million years ago. The top is defined as the first appearance of another trilobite Lejopyge laevigata around 500.5 million years ago.
