The eleventh edition of the Acropolis International Basketball Tournament 1994 found between the 13th and 17th. June 1994 in Piraeus. The total of ten games were played at Stadium of Peace and Friendship.
In addition to the host Greece also included the national teams FR Yugoslavia, Russia, Argentina as well as Italy. While it was Argentina's first and Russians' second participation in the Acropolis tournament, the Italians took part for the fifth time and the Serbs for the fourth time.
The 1994 Acropolis tournament is the only one so far in which five teams took part instead of the usual four. [1]

Dejan Bodiroga is a Serbian basketball executive and former professional player, who is currently the President of EuroLeague Basketball. In 1998 and 2002, he received the Golden Badge award for the best athlete of Yugoslavia, and the Yugoslav Olympic Committee also declared him the Sportsman of the Year. He was named to the FIBA All-Time EuroStars Team in 2007. In 2018, he was named one of the 101 Greats of European Basketball. HoopsHype named Bodiroga one of the 75 Greatest International Players Ever in 2021. He was inducted into the Greek Basket League Hall of Fame in 2022.
The FIBA Basketball World Cup is an international basketball competition between the senior men's national teams of the members of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), the sport's global governing body. It takes place every four years and is considered the flagship event of FIBA.

The 1987 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 1987, was the 25th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship, held by FIBA Europe. It was held in Greece between 3 and 14 June 1987. Twelve national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Europe, the sport's regional governing body. The Peace and Friendship Stadium, located in the Neo Faliron in Piraeus, Attica, was the hosting venue of the tournament. The host, Greece, won its first FIBA European title by defeating the defending champions and heavily favored Soviet Union, with a 103–101 score in a gripping final decided in overtime. Greece's Nikos Galis was voted the tournament's MVP.

The Peace and Friendship Stadium, commonly known by its acronym SEF, is a multi-purpose indoor arena that is located in Piraeus, on the coastal zone of Attica, Greece. The arena is mostly known for being the home to EuroLeague team Olympiacos, and is the central venue of the Faliro Coastal Zone Olympic Complex. It opened in 1985 and its design was inspired by Palasport di San Siro.

The 15. Edition of the Acropolis International Basketball Tournament 2001 took place between the 21st and 23rd. August 2001 in the suburb Marousi from Athens. The total of six games were played in the Olympic Hall.
The 2024 Acropolis International Tournament is a basketball tournament which was held in SEF in Piraeus, Greece, from June 25 until June 27, 2024. It was the 33th edition of the Acropolis International Basketball Tournament. The competition is played under FIBA rules as a round-robin tournament.This year tournament was takes place before the 2024 FIBA Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments – Piraeus and the 2024 Summer Olympics in France.
