Chicago began their twelfth Major League Soccer regular season on the road the first two weeks with a match against the New York Red Bulls on March 27, 2010 and the Colorado Rapids on April 3, 2010 followed by their first home match against San Jose Earthquakes on April 10, 2010. [6]
The Chicago Fire participated in the first ever Chicago Sister Cities International Cup. A friendly tournament hosted by the Fire.
Fire terminate loan agreement with Leon F.C. for the rights of Julio Martinez
The Fire trade for Freddie Ljungberg (from Seattle) and also sign Nery Castillo from Shakhtar Donetsk. The Fire trade away Justin Mapp and Tim Ward for allocation money and to clear roster spots.

The 2008 Chicago Fire season was the club's 10th year of existence, as well as their 11th season in Major League Soccer and 11th consecutive year in the top-flight of American soccer. It began with a 3-1 away win over Real Salt Lake on March 29, 2008 and ended with a 2-1 loss to Columbus Crew in the Eastern Conference Final on November 13, 2008. Denis Hamlett made his debut as the Chicago Fire coach after being promoted.

The 2009 Real Salt Lake season was the fifth season of the team's existence. After clinching the eighth and final spot in the 2009 MLS Cup Playoffs, Real Salt Lake would go on to defeat the Los Angeles Galaxy in the 2009 MLS Cup. The team was the first team in MLS history to win the MLS Cup after finishing the regular season with a losing record (11–12–7).
The 2010 MLS season was the fourth season in Toronto FC's existence. The club was looking to make the playoffs for the first time in their history and ultimately fell short. TFC started the season with Preki as the new head coach however, on September 14, 2010, he along with Director of Soccer Mo Johnston were relieved of their duties; and Nick Dasovic took over as head coach on an interim basis.

The 2010 San Jose Earthquakes season was the club's thirteenth season of existence. The Earthquakes finished 8th overall in MLS and finished in the Eastern Conference finals of the MLS Cup playoffs before losing to the Colorado Rapids. It was the first season the club made the playoffs since 2005.
The 2010 Philadelphia Union season was the first season of the team's existence, competing in Major League Soccer, the top flight of American soccer. The Union were the sixteenth franchise to join the league in 2010 and were managed under former MLS player Peter Nowak.
The 2008 Real Salt Lake Season was the fourth season of the team's existence. It was the first season that the team made it to the MLS Cup Playoffs, thanks to some last minute heroics by Yura Movsisyan. After defeating Chivas USA in the first round of the playoffs, Real Salt Lake lost to New York Red Bulls in the Western Conference finals. The 2008 season was also the last season that Real Salt Lake played at Rice-Eccles Stadium, as they moved to the soccer-specific Rio Tinto Stadium on October 9, 2008.
The 2012 San Jose Earthquakes season was the club's 15th year of existence, as well as its 15th season in Major League Soccer and its fifth consecutive season in the top-flight of American soccer. Including all previous franchises, this is the 30th year with a soccer club in the San Jose area sporting the name "Earthquakes".
The 2008 San Jose Earthquakes season was the eleventh season of the team's existence, and the first in their return to the league after a two-year hiatus.
The 2014 FC Dallas season was the club's nineteenth season in existence in Major League Soccer, the top tier of American soccer.
