During the player's direct signing period, a Conflict of Interests aroused between BCB and all other franchise. Subsequently, in September BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon informed the media about certain changes in rules and regulations for the ongoing season and eliminating all franchises, BCB took over the charge of the current BPL and decided to run this current tournament by the board itself and named the tournament as Bangabandhu BPL T20 2019 in order to pay homage to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his birth centenary. [1]

On 16 November 2019, BCB unveiled the logo and name of the all seven teams for the current season. 5 out of 7 teams were sponsored by private companies while Rangpur Rangers and Cumilla Warriors are sponsored by BCB itself. [2] Chattogram Challengers is sponsored by Akhtar Furnishers, Dhaka Platoon is sponsored by Jamuna Bank , Khulna Tigers is sponsored by Premier Bank Limited , Rajshahi Royals by IPC Group and Sylhet Thunder is sponsored by Jivani Footwear Company. The players auction for the 2019 Bangabandhu BPL T20 was held on 17 November 2019 at the Hotel Radisson, Dhaka. A total of 181 domestic players and 439 foreign players signed up for the players' draft. [4]

The Sylhet Division cricket team is a Bangladeshi first-class team representing the Sylhet Division, one of the country's seven administrative regions. The team competes in the National Cricket League and was formerly a participant in the now-defunct National Cricket League One-Day. In the short-lived National Cricket League Twenty20 competition, played in the 2009–10 season only, Sylhet adopted the name Sultans of Sylhet and played in their official yellow and blue colours. Minister Dhaka is a franchise cricket team that plays in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), representing the country's Dhaka Division. Following the 2015 competition, they are one of the BPL's seven existing members and participated in the league's 2019 edition. The team is headquartered at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, and so is one of three teams playing in the city, alongside the Dhaka Division cricket team and Dhaka Metropolis cricket team which are active in first-class cricket.

Each franchise can sign a total of 10 local players and 8 foreign players, and can play up to 5 foreign players in each match. Each franchise will also have one domestic icon player in their team. Players were allowed to set their base price between $20,000 to $100,000.

The players auction for the 2013 Bangladesh Premier League was held on December 20, 2012 at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka. Domestic players were set a base price between $10,000 and $50,000, while international players were set a base price between $15,000 and $75,000.No Indian players included in 2013 BPL edition.

Rajshahi Royals won the match by 21 runs as they won their first-ever BPL title.

The 2020–21 Bangabandhu T20 Cup was a Twenty20 cricket competition that was held in Bangladesh. It was played by five teams, during November and December 2020. In November 2020, more than 100 players began to undertake fitness tests, ahead of a players' draft for the tournament. The players' draft took place on 12 November 2020, with the tournament starting in the third week of November. Two days later, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the full schedule for the tournament.
