The 2022 Greek Basketball Super Cup is the 3rd edition of the revived Greek professional domestic basketball super cup competition, under the auspices of the Hellenic Basketball Clubs Association (HEBA), and the 4th overall. [1] [2] The Greek Basketball Super Cup had been played only three times before, in 1986 under the auspices of the Hellenic Basketball Federation (E.O.K.), in 2020, and in 2021. [3] [4] [5] All games were hosted in Kallithea Palais des Sports in Rhodes, Greece. [6]

The competition will be played in a final-four format and single elimination games, between the teams placed in the four first places of the 2021–22 Greek Basket League, which include the 2021–22 Greek Basketball Cup winner and finalist. [8] [9] Larisa basketball team finished fourth in the 2021–22 Greek Basket League earning the right to participate in the Super Cup final four competition, however, the club decided to forfeit the competition and Kolossos H Hotels replaced them.

Olympiacós Sýndesmos Filáthlon Peiraiós is a major multi-sport club based in Piraeus, Greece. Olympiacos is parent to a number of different competitive departments which participate in football, basketball, volleyball, water polo, handball, athletics, swimming, table tennis and boxing amongst many others—and have won numerous European and domestic titles over the club's history.
Olympiacos Men's Waterpolo, commonly referred to as Olympiacos, Olympiacos Piraeus or with its full name as Olympiacos CFP, is the professional men's water polo department of the major Greek multi-sport club, Olympiacos CFP, based in Piraeus, Greece. The department was founded in 1925, one of the founding members of the Hellenic Swimming Federation, and their home ground is the Papastrateio Pool in Piraeus.
The Greek Women's Water Polo A1 League is the premier championship for women's water polo teams in Greece. It was founded in 1988, and it is currently contested by twelve teams. Greek League is ranked as one of the top national domestic leagues in European water polo. The champion, the runner-up and the third-placed team qualify for the LEN Euro League.
The Greek Volleyball Super Cup is a volleyball club competition that takes place in Greece since 1998. It is an annual match contested by the champion of Greek Volleyleague and the winner of Greek Volleyball Cup. The matches take place in different cities every year. The competition isn't held if one team has achieved the double in the previous season. Iraklis Thessaloniki has won the competition 4 times, followed by Olympiacos and Panathinaikos who have won it 2 times. Aris Thessaloniki, Foinikas Syros and PAOK have won the trophy one time each.

The previous winners of the cup were Panathinaikos Superfoods. The cup competition started on 13 September 2017, and ended 17 February 2018. AEK won the competition.

The season started in September 2019, and ended prematurely in March 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 21 May 2020, after a vote that was held between the league's 14 teams, Panathinaikos was crowned the Greek basketball league's champion for the season, marking the club's 38th Greek championship. The league's 14 teams also agreed that none of the teams would be relegated.
The 2020–21 season was the 96th season in existence of Olympiacos and the club's 62nd consecutive season in the top flight of Greek football. The season was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and all Olympiacos' games were played behind closed doors. Olympiacos participated in the Greek Super League winning their 46th title, finishing 26 points ahead of PAOK who came second. Domestically the team participated in the Greek Football Cup as well. They reached the final where they lost to PAOK. Olympiacos qualified also for the UEFA Champions League group stage for a second consecutive season but failed to qualify to the knock-out phase. Having finished third in their group, they were then transferred to UEFA Europa League knockout phase. The season covers the period from 20 August 2020 to 22 May 2021.
