PVL seasons

The 2022 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season was the fifth season of the Premier Volleyball League that started on March 16, 2022, with the 2022 Open Conference. [1] This is the second year of PVL as a professional league that held a three conferences in one season after a lone conference last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [2]

Open conference

The 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference was the eleventh conference of the Premier Volleyball League and its second conference as a professional league.

The conference was held from March 16 to April 8, 2022, pending restrictions brought by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. A pool play format will be adapted for the first time wherein teams will be divided into two pools as opposed to a round-robin format where all teams play against each other at least once. [3] Preliminary round was held at the Paco Arena in Manila. [4] Quarterfinal round and Semifinals Game 1 & 3 was held at the San Juan Arena in San Juan. [5] The Semifinals Game 2 and Finals Game 1 was held at SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay while Finals Game 2 was held at Ynares Center in Antipolo, Rizal. [6]

Final round

Invitational conference

The 2022 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference was the twelfth conference of the Premier Volleyball League and its third conference as a professional league.

The tournament began on July 9, 2022. Originally slated for the July 2, the tournament was pushed back due to the requests of the club teams. [9]

This is the first (second for the former SVL ) conference of the league to commence an invitational conference. A total of eight teams will compete in this event, including one international team — KingWhale Taipei from Taiwan. The BaliPure Purest Water Defenders and F2 Logistics begged off from joining the conference. [10] A second guest team, Kobe Shinwa University, was supposed to join the semi-final round but backed out at the last minute. [10] Replacement guest Philippine National Team, composed mostly of NU Lady Bulldogs team members, also backed out. [11]

Reinforced conference

The 2022 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference was the thirteenth conference of the Premier Volleyball League and its fourth conference as a professional league.

The tournament began on October 8 and finished on December 6, 2022. [13] This is the first reinforced conference in three years, since the last reinforced was commenced way back in 2019. And also the first conference to use a video challenge system. [14] It features nine local teams with one foreign guest player each. Among these nine teams are the returning F2 Logistics Cargo Movers and the debuting team — Akari Chargers. [15] [16]

    Jessica Margarett "Jema" Casidsid Galanza is a Filipino volleyball player and former captain of the Adamson Soaring Lady Falcons volleyball team in the UAAP and a National Team Member. She also played for the Laoag Power Smashers during the 2016 SVL Reinforced Conference and has become one of the top spikers for the Creamline Cool Smashers since 2017 in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

    Risa Sato is a Filipino-Japanese volleyball player who is currently living in the Philippines. She played in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines for the NU Lady Bulldogs and is currently playing in the Premier Volleyball League for the Creamline Cool Smashers.

    Diana Mae "Tots" Carlos is a Filipino volleyball player who currently plays for the Creamline Cool Smashers. She was playing with UP Lady Fighting Maroons of the University of the Philippines-Diliman, and a member of both the indoor and beach volleyball collegiate varsity teams of the university. She bagged the back-to-back Most Valuable Player and Best Opposite Spiker in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference and 2022 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference. She is also part of the Philippines women's national volleyball team that competes in the 2022 Asian Women's Volleyball Cup.

    Rosemarie Vargas is a Filipino volleyball player of the collegiate varsity volleyball team of Far Eastern University that plays in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. Rosemarie also plays for the Creamline Cool Smashers in the Premier Volleyball League that debuted during the 2017 PVL Reinforced Conference.

    The Petro Gazz Angels is a professional women's volleyball team playing in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

    Kyla Llana Magdaraog Atienza is a Filipina volleyball player. She currently plays for the Creamline Cool Smashers volleyball team in the Premier Volleyball League. She was a member of the FEU Lady Tamaraws volleyball team in both indoor and beach volleyball. She impressed in her debut for the Philippine team by keeping the ball alive for most of Vietnam's attacks at the AVC Cup on August 21, 2022. ASEAN Grand Prix named her Best Libero on September 11, 2022.

    The 2021 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference was the tenth conference of the Premier Volleyball League and its first conference as a professional league. The conference started on July 17, 2021 and ended on August 13, 2021, at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte in a bubble. The PVL has been approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to begin team practices to be followed by the official start of the 2021 season.
