The 2022 Spielberg FIA Formula 2 round was a motor racing event held between 8 and 10 July 2022 at the Red Bull Ring, Spielberg, Austria. It was the eighth round of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship and was held in support of the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix.
Prior to the eighth round in Spielberg, Campos Racing announced on 6 July that Roberto Merhi would make his Formula 2 comeback by replacing Swiss driver Ralph Boschung due to the effects of a neck injury sustained at the third round in Imola. At the age of 31 years, Merhi became the oldest driver to compete in a Formula 2 round. [1]
In addition, Van Amersfoort Racing driver Amaury Cordeel made his comeback after his ban in the previous round in Silverstone following the collection of 12 penalty points.
Frederik Vesti took his maiden Formula 2 pole position and the first one for ART Grand Prix this season ahead of Jüri Vips and Silverstone feature race winner Logan Sargeant. [2]

Ralph Boschung is a Swiss racing driver currently competing in the 2023 FIA Formula 2 Championship for Campos Racing. He is a race winner in the GP3 Series and has previously competed in Formula 2 from 2017 to 2022, for Campos, MP Motorsport and Trident.
Richard Bastiaan Verschoor is a Dutch racing driver currently competing for Van Amersfoort Racing in the Formula 2 Championship. Verschoor graduated to Formula 2 in 2021 with MP Motorsport before switching to Charouz Racing System, and moved to Trident for 2022 after two years in the FIA Formula 3 Championship with MP Motorsport.
Enzo Fittipaldi da Cruz is a Brazilian-American racing driver, who is currently competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Carlin. After signing with Carlin, he became a member of the Red Bull Junior Team in November 2022, and was a previous member of the Ferrari Driver Academy. Fittipaldi was the 2018 Italian F4 champion and 2019 Formula Regional European runner-up. He then spent nearly two seasons in Formula 3 before being promoted to Formula 2 with Charouz Racing System.
Felipe Drugovich Roncato is a Brazilian-Italian racing driver who last competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with MP Motorsport. He is the 2018 Euroformula Open champion and the 2022 Formula 2 champion, as well as the current test and reserve driver for Aston Martin and McLaren in Formula 1.
Frederik Vesti is a Danish racing driver who is currently competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Prema Racing. He is a member of the Mercedes Junior Team and the inaugural champion of the Formula Regional European Championship.
