The 2017 Jerez FIA Formula 2 round was a pair of motor races held on 7 and 8 October 2017 at the Circuito de Jerez in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain as part of the FIA Formula 2 Championship. It was the tenth and penultimate round of the 2017 FIA Formula 2 Championship.
After a disappointing round in Monza for championship leader Charles Leclerc with a total of 0 points to his name, the Monégasque driver took yet another pole position and prematurely clinched the championship title by winning his sixth race of the season with three races to spare. With only one weekend to go, Leclerc was leading the championship with an unassailable lead by 60 points over current runner-up Oliver Rowland.
As of 2022, Leclerc holds the record for the most pole positions in a Formula 2 season with eight.

Hendrik Johannes Nicasius "Nyck" de Vries is a Dutch racing driver currently competing for Mahindra Racing in Formula E and Toyota Gazoo Racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship. He won the 2020–21 Formula E World Championship and the 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship as well as the 2010 and 2011 Karting World Championships. He was signed to the McLaren Young Driver Programme from January 2010 until May 2019. De Vries made his Formula One debut in September 2022 as a substitute for Williams at the 2022 Italian Grand Prix. He joined Scuderia AlphaTauri for the 2023 season but was released after the 2023 British Grand Prix – the 10th race of that 22-race season.

The 2021 FIA Formula 3 Championship was a motor racing championship for Formula 3 cars that was sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The championship was the twelfth season of Formula 3 racing and the third season run under the guise of the FIA Formula 3 Championship, an open-wheel racing category that serves as the third tier of formula racing in the FIA Global Pathway. The category was run in support of selected rounds of the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship.
