The 2022 Yokohama F. Marinos season was the club's 50th season in existence and the 40th consecutive season in the top flight of Japanese football. In addition to the domestic league, Yokohama F. Marinos participated in this season's editions of the Emperor's Cup, the J.League Cup and the AFC Champions League.

    The 95th Emperor's Cup (第95回天皇杯全日本サッカー選手権大会) was the regular edition of the annual Japanese national cup tournament, which was held from 29 August 2015 to its final on 1 January 2016.

    The 97th Emperor's Cup (第97回天皇杯全日本サッカー選手権大会) was the 2017 edition of the annual Japanese national cup tournament, which began on 22 April 2017 and ended with the finals on 1 January 2018.

    The 2018 Vissel Kobe season was Vissel Kobe's fifth season back in the J1 League following their promotion in 2013 and their 20th J1 League season. They also competed in the 2018 Emperor's Cup and the 2018 J.League Cup.

    The 2022 J1 League, also known as the 2022 Meiji Yasuda J1 League for sponsorship reasons, was the 30th season of the J1 League, the top Japanese professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1992. This was eighth season of J1 League as renamed from J. League Division 1.

    The 2022 Júbilo Iwata season was the club's 50th season in existence and the first season back in the top flight of Japanese football. In addition to the domestic league, Júbilo Iwata participated in this season's editions of the Emperor's Cup and the J.League Cup. Finishing at last place at the J1 League, the club got relegated back to the J2 League after just a season back on the first division.

    The 2022 Gamba Osaka season was the club's 42nd season in existence and the ninth consecutive season in the top flight of Japanese football. In addition to the domestic league, Gamba Osaka participated in this season's editions of the Emperor's Cup and the J.League Cup.

    The 2022 Urawa Red Diamonds season was the club's 72nd season in existence and the 22nd consecutive season in the top flight of Japanese football. In addition to the domestic league, Urawa Red Diamonds participated in this season's editions of the Emperor's Cup, the J.League Cup, the Japanese Super Cup and the AFC Champions League.

    The 2023 J.League Cup, known as the 2023 J.League YBC Levain Cup for sponsorship reasons, was the 31st edition of J.League Cup, a Japanese association football cup competition. Unlike previous editions, the competition did not use the away goals rule. No byes awarded for the knockout stage and thus no knockout round playoffs.

    The 2023 season is Yokohama FC's 25th season in existence and the club's first season in the top flight of Japanese football following their promotion from J2 League. In addition to the domestic league, Yokohama FC competed in this season's edition of the Emperor's Cup and the J.League Cup.
