9084 Achristou (provisional designation 1995 CS1) is a stony Hungaria asteroid from the innermost regions of the asteroid belt, about 1.9 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered by British astronomer David J. Asher at Siding Spring Observatory in New South Wales, Australia, on 3 February 1995. [8] The asteroid was named after British planetary astronomer Apostolos Christou. [2]
Achristou is a member of the Hungaria family, which form the innermost dense concentration of asteroids in the Solar System. It orbits the Sun at a distance of 1.7–2.0 AU once every 2 years and 6 months (926 days). Its orbit has an eccentricity of 0.08 and an inclination of 23° with respect to the ecliptic. [1] In April 1980, it was first identified as 1980 GV1 at Palomar Observatory, extending the body's observation arc by 15 years prior to its official discovery observation at Siding Spring. [8]
Achristou has been characterized as a bright E-type asteroid. [3]
In May 2013, a rotational lightcurve of Achristou was obtained from photometric observations by American astronomer Robert Stephens at the Center for Solar System Studies ( U81 ) in California. Lightcurve analysis gave a rotation period of 8.84 hours with a low brightness variation of 0.09 magnitude ( U=2+ ). [6] [lower-alpha 1]
Based on the survey carried out by the NEOWISE mission of NASA's space-based Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer, Achristou measures 1.9 kilometers in diameter and its surface has an albedo of 0.33, [4] [5] while the Collaborative Asteroid Lightcurve Link assumes an albedo of 0.30 and calculates a diameter of 1.8 kilometers with an absolute magnitude of 15.7. [3]
This minor planet was named after Apostolos Christou (born 1968), planetary astronomer and programmer at the North Irish Armagh Observatory, after which the minor planet 10502 Armaghobs was named. His field or research include minor planets in co-orbit with Venus, designing near-Earth asteroids missions, the dwarf planet 1 Ceres, meteor impacts on Venus, as well as the irregular satellite families of the outer planets. 2001 Einstein is a bright Hungaria asteroid from the innermost region of the asteroid belt. It was discovered by Swiss astronomer Paul Wild at Zimmerwald Observatory near Bern, Switzerland, on 5 March 1973. The X-type asteroid (Xe) has a rotation period of 5.5 hours and measures approximately 5 kilometers in diameter. It is named after physicist Albert Einstein (1879–1955).

1919 Clemence, provisional designation 1971 SA, is a bright Hungaria asteroid and suspected tumbler from the inner regions of the asteroid belt, approximately 4 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 16 September 1971, by American astronomer James Gibson together with Argentine astronomer Carlos Cesco at the Yale-Columbia Southern Station at Leoncito Astronomical Complex in Argentina. It is named after astronomer Gerald Clemence.
4868 Knushevia, provisional designation 1989 UN2 is a bright Hungaria asteroid and suspected binary system from the innermost regions of the asteroid belt, approximately 2 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 27 October 1989, by American astronomer Eleanor Helin at the Palomar Observatory in California, United States. The asteroid was named for the Kyiv University in Ukraine.
2173 Maresjev, provisional designation 1974 QG1, is a dark background asteroid from the outer regions of the asteroid belt, approximately 28 kilometers (17 miles) in diameter. It was discovered on 22 August 1974, by Soviet–Ukrainian astronomer Lyudmila Zhuravleva at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in Nauchnij, on the Crimean peninsula. It was named for Soviet war veteran Alexey Maresyev. The assumed C-type asteroid has a tentative rotation period of 11.6 hours.
1355 Magoeba, provisional designation 1935 HE, is a Hungaria asteroid and a suspected contact-binary from the innermost regions of the asteroid belt, approximately 5 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 30 April 1935, by English-born, South African astronomer Cyril Jackson at the Johannesburg Observatory in South Africa. The asteroid is named for Magoeba, a tribal chief in the South African Transvaal Province.

It was discovered on 1 September 1984, by Italian astronomer Maria Barucci at the Palomar Observatory in California, United States. The presumed E-type asteroid has a longer-than average rotation period of 37.4 hours and possibly an elongated shape.
