Adabraka is a town in the Korley Klottey Municipal Assembly, [1] a Municipality of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. [2] [3] It was the first affluent neighborhood in Ghana during the British era. [4]

Education

Adabraka was once known for the O'Reilly Senior High School. [5] [6] The school is a second cycle institution that relocated in 2010 to Okpoi Gonno at Teshie-Nungua. [7] [8] [9]

The town hosts four tertiary institutions; the African University College of Communication (AUCC), The Ghana Institute of Languages(GIL), the Catholic Institute of Business and Technology(CIBT), and the University of Ghana Accra City Campus.

Healthcare

The Accra Psychiatry Hospital is located in Adabraka. Adabraka also has polyclinic called Adabraka Polyclinic, which is just opposite the Accra Psychiatry Hospital. [10] The Accra Rehabilitation Centre is also located in Adabraka, along the Barnes Road. [11]

Kaneshie is a suburb in the Accra Metropolitan district, a district of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The name was derived from a word in the Ga-Adangbe, that is "Kane Shie Shie", meaning "under the lamp" referring to its beginnings as a night market.

Kwaku Baprui Asante was a Ghanaian diplomat, government official and writer. Asante served as the Principal Secretary at the African Affairs Secretariat from 1960 to 1966. The Sakumo Ramsar Site also known as the Sakumo Lagoon is a wetland of international importance. It covers an area of 1,400 hectares and is situated along the coastal road between Accra and Tema in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. It is about 3 km (1.9 mi) west of Tema. Activities ongoing within the site include farming, fishing, recreation, urban and industrial development.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2015 Accra floods</span> 2015 disaster in Accra, Ghana

The 2015 Accra floods resulted from heavy continuous rainfall in Accra, the largest city in Ghana. The rain started on 1 June 2015. Other causes of this flood is as a result of the improper planning of settlement in Accra, choked gutters which block the drainage system and a few other human factors. The floods have resulted in heavy traffic on the roads in the city and also a halt in commercial activities as markets were flooded and workers trapped. Mayor of Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije described the flooding as critical. At least 25 people have died from the flooding directly, while a petrol station explosion caused by the flooding killed at least 200 more people.

Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings is Ghanaian medical doctor, politician, Activist & Campaigner who is the eldest daughter of the 1st President under the 4th Republic of Ghana Jerry Rawlings (1993–2001) and former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman (1993–2001). She is National Democratic Congress' Member of Parliament for the Klottey-Korle Constituency and a humanitarian.

Daniel McKorley (born 17th June, 1971) is a Ghanaian founder, chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of the McDan Group of Companies. McKorley was awarded the title of Entrepreneur of the Year (2016) at the Ghana Aviation Awards.

Ayawaso Central Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Accra Metropolitan District in 1988, until a small portion of the district was split off to create Ayawaso Central Municipal District on 9 February 2019; thus the remaining part has been retained as Accra Metropolitan District. The municipality is located in the central part of Greater Accra Region and has Kokomlemle as its capital town.

The municipality is located in the central part of Greater Accra Region and has Osu as its capital town.
