Akole Vidhan Sabha seat is one of the seats in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in India. It is a segment of Shirdi lok Sabha seat. Both Akole assembly and Shirdi parliamentary seats came into existence after constituency map of India was redrawn in 2008. [1]
Akole (constituency number 216) is one of the twelve Vidhan Sabha constituencies located in the Ahmednagar district. It comprises part of Sangamner tehsil and the entire Akole tehsil of the district. [2]
Akole is part of the Shirdi Lok Sabha constituency along with five other Vidhan Sabha segments in this district, namely Sangamner, Shirdi, Kopargaon, Shrirampur and Nevasa. It is reserved for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled tribes. [3]

Shirdi Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 48 Lok Sabha constituencies of Maharashtra state in western India. This constituency was created on 19 February 2008 as a part of the implementation of the Presidential notification based on the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted on 12 July 2002. This constituency is one of the two Lok Sabha constituencies in Ahmednagar district. It first held elections in 2009 and its first member of parliament (MP) was Bhausaheb Rajaram Wakchaure of Shiv Sena. As of the 2014 elections, its current MP is Sadashiv Lokhande also of Shiv Sena.

It is a new constituency, created in 2008 as a part of the implementation of the delimitation of the parliamentary constituencies based on the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted on 12 July 2002. In the 2019 General Elections Sunil Tatkare of NCP won the seat by margin of 31,438 votes defeating the incumbent Geetee who was also a Union Cabinet minister.
