Ausichicrinites is a genus of feather stars (comatulids) in the upper Jurassic period (Tithonian epoch), central western Ethiopia approximately 145 million years ago. This genus was found in the upper part of the Antalo Limestone Formation 2114 meters (6935 feet) in elevation. The genus name Ausichicrinites refers to William I. Aussich, a leading expert on the order comatulids, while the species name Ausichicrinites zelenskyyi was named in honor of the sixth president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, [1] [2] in support of him during the Russian invasion of Ukraine which was ongoing at the time of its description. A. zelenskyyi is also known to be the first Jurassic comatulid to come from the African continent and is the first nearly complete feather star fossil. The species showed a few similarities with Mesozoic Solanocrinitidae but also shows a close resemblance with the modern family group Zygometridae. [3] [4]
Based on the near complete fossil of A. zelenskyyi, the species was 2 inches in diameter and had ten foot long large arms and many ring-like appendages near the base to grip the substrate. The arms were used to filter feed food from the water by exposing its arms and letting the food move to it. Ausichicrinites zelenskyyi also may have been able to shed its arms similar to lizards. [5]

They live in both shallow water and in depths as great as 9,000 meters (30,000 ft).
Leptoptilos is a genus of very large tropical storks, also known as the adjutant bird. The name means thin (lepto) feather (ptilos). Two species are resident breeders in southern Asia, and the marabou stork is found in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Megapnosaurus is an extinct genus of coelophysid theropod dinosaur that lived approximately 188 million years ago during the early part of the Jurassic Period in what is now Africa. The species was a small to medium-sized, lightly built, ground-dwelling, bipedal carnivore, that could grow up to 2.2 m (7.2 ft) long and weigh up to 13 kg (29 lb). It was originally given the genus name Syntarsus, but that name was later determined to be preoccupied by a beetle. The species was subsequently given a new genus name, Megapnosaurus, by Ivie, Ślipiński & Węgrzynowicz in 2001. Some studies have classified it as a species within the genus Coelophysis, but this interpretation has been challenged by more subsequent studies and the genus Megapnosaurus is now considered valid.
Zamites is a genus of sterile foliage known from the Mesozoic of North America, Europe, India and Antarctica through the Eocene of North America. It was erected as a form taxon for leaves that superficially resembled the extant cycad Zamia, however it is now believed to belong to a similar but phylogenetically different group, the cyacadeoids (Bennettitales). The fronds are linear or lanceolate in shape, and pinnately compound, with pinnae with parallel veins and smooth margins, and symmetrical and constricted at the base where they are attached obliquely to the upper surface of the rachis. It has been interpreted as a Bennettitalean plant in the family Williamsoniaceae. It is associated with the ovulate cone Williamsonia and male cone Weltricihia.
