The Districts of Ghana are second-level administrative subdivisions of Ghana, below the level of region. There are currently 261 local metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies.
The Central Region is one of the sixteen administrative regions of Ghana. Ashanti and Eastern regions border it to the north, Western region to the west, Greater Accra region to the east, and the Gulf of Guinea to the south. The Central Region is renowned for its many elite high schools and an economy based on an abundance of industrial minerals and tourism. The Central region boasts of many tourist attractions, such as castles, forts and beaches dotted along the region's coastline.
Awutu/Effutu/Senya District is a former district that was located in Central Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988, which was created from the former Gomoa-Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Council. However on 29 February 2008, it was split off into two new districts: Effutu Municipal District and Awutu Senya District. The district assembly was located in the southeast part of Central Region and had Winneba as its capital town.
Kasoa is a peri-urban town in the Awutu Senya East Municipal District of the Central region of Ghana.
Awutu Senya District is a former district that was located in Central Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Awutu/Effutu/Senya District on 29 February 2008. However on 28 June 2012, it was split out into two new districts: Awutu Senya West District and Awutu Senya East District. The district assembly was located in the southeast part of Central Region and had Awutu Breku as its capital town.
Effutu Municipal District is one of the twenty-two districts in Central Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Awutu/Effutu/Senya District in 1988, until the southwest part of the district was split off by a decree of president John Agyekum Kufuor on 29 February 2008 to create Awutu Senya District; thus the remaining part was elevated to municipal district assembly status to become Effutu Municipal District on that same year. The municipality is located in the southeast part of Central Region and has Winneba as its capital town.
Awutu Senya East Municipal District is one of the twenty-two districts in Central Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Awutu Senya District on 29 February 2008, until the eastern part of the district was split off to create Awutu Senya East District on 28 June 2012, which it was later elevated to municipal district assembly status on 15 March 2018 to become Awutu Senya East Municipal District; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Awutu Senya West District. The municipality is located in the southeast part of Central Region and has Kasoa as its capital town.
Denkyembour District is one of the thirty-three districts in Eastern Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Kwaebibirem District in 1988, which was created from the former West Akim District Council. However on 6 February 2012, the southern part of the district was split off to create Denkyembour District; thus the remaining part has been retained as Kwaebibirem District, which it was elevated to municipal district assembly status on 15 March 2018 to become Kwaebibirem Municipal District. The district assembly is located in the southern part of Eastern Region and has Akwatia as its capital town.
Pusiga District is one of the fifteen districts in Upper East Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Bawku Municipal District in 1988; until two parts of the district were later split off to create Binduri District and Pusiga District respectively on 28 June 2012. The district assembly is located in the eastern part of Upper East Region and has Pusiga as its capital town.
Wassa Amenfi Central District is one of the fourteen districts in Western Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Wassa Amenfi West District in August 2004, which was created from the former Aowin-Amenfi District Council, until the eastern part of the district was split off to create Wassa Amenfi Central District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Wassa Amenfi West District. The district assembly is located in the northern part of Western Region and has Manso Amenfi as its capital town.

Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Accra Metropolitan Assembly in 1988, until a small portion of the district was split off to create Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly on 15 March 2018; thus the remaining part has been retained as Accra Metropolitan District. The municipality is located in the central part of Greater Accra Region and has Accra Newtown as its capital town.
Ga North Municipal Assembly is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Ga West District in 2004, until the eastern part of the district was split off to create Ga North Municipal District on 15 March 2018, which was supported by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2314; thus the remaining part has been retained as Ga West Municipal Assembly. The municipality is located in the western part of Greater Accra Region and has Ofankor as its capital town.
Krowor Municipal Assembly is one of the twenty-nine Assemblies in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the defunct Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal District on 29 February 2008, until part of the district was split off to create Krowor Municipal Assembly on 15 March 2018; thus the remaining original part has been renamed as Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly. The municipality is located in the central part of Greater Accra Region and has Nungua as its capital town.
Ayawaso Central Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Accra Metropolitan District in 1988, until a small portion of the district was split off to create Ayawaso Central Municipal District on 9 February 2019; thus the remaining part has been retained as Accra Metropolitan District. The municipality is located in the central part of Greater Accra Region and has Kokomlemle as its capital town.

Bunkpurugu-Nyankpanduri District is one of the six districts in North East Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo District on 19 August 2004, which was created from the former Mamprusi District Council, until the southern part of the district was split off to create Yunyoo-Nasuan District on 15 March 2018; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Bunkpurugu-Nyankpanduri District. The district assembly was located in the northeast part of Northern Region and had Bunkpurugu as its capital town.
