Begusarai railway station (code BGS) is a railway station in the Sonpur division of East Central Railway. Begusarai is better known as the Industrial Capital of Bihar, the birthplace of noted poet Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, and karmabhoomi of the Great freedom fighter, first chief minister and architect of modern Bihar Dr. Shrikrishna Sinha alias Sri Babu. World famous folk singer for her chhath pooja and wedding songs in Maithili, Bhojpuri, Magahi and Hindi, known as "Bihar Kokila" or "Swar Kokila" Padmasri and Padmbhushan Sharda Sinha, is from Begusarai. Her in law's house is Sihma village in Matihani block of Begusarai district.

The major facilities available are waiting rooms, computerized reservation facility and vehicle parking. The vehicles are allowed to enter the station premises. The station also has STD/ISD/PCO telephone booth, toilets, tea stalls, fruit stall, dairy stall, meal stall and book stall. The station has total three platforms and are interconnected with two foot over bridges. Gaighat is a neighbourhood of Patna in the eastern state of Bihar in India. It is located on the southern bank of river Ganges in Patna. The southern flank of Mahatma Gandhi Setu bridge connecting Patna and Hajipur rises from Gaighat in Patna. One end of Pontoon Bridge (Peepapul) connecting Patna and Hajipur over the river Ganges is also located in the area. Gaighat is part of the wider Alamganj area in Patna.

He is primarily known for his role in implementing the developmental initiatives of the Nitish Kumar government under the ambitious Saat Nishchay Yojna. Previously, he also served as the District Magistrate of Bhojpur district, the position to which he was appointed after replacing incumbent DM, Sanjiv Kumar. Before being appointed as DM of Bhojpur, Kushwaha was serving as DDC of Vaishali district.
