Bodybuilding in India is organized and the national federation is internationally recognised. Bodybuilders from the country have competed in international events.
In 2013, the Kazakhstani Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation hosted the Asian Championship in Almaty at the Baluan Sholak Sport Palace. At least one Indian participated in the competition. [1]
In India, bodybuilders appear on a number of billboards advertising supplements near the offices of the National Institute of Sports. [2]
The overall fitness industry in India has seen a boom over the past two decades. From personal training to sports nutrition, there has been a tremendous increase in general awareness about fitness related topics.
The international apex body for strength sports, World Strongmen Federation (WSF), has officially recognised Indian participation into the WSF World Cup 2016. [3] The related launch of India's first television strength reality show, 'Strongest Indian', was announced in April, 2015. The winner of the show will represent India at the next World Strongman Federation World Cup competition. [4] The format of the show is conceptualised by Kaizzad Capadia, [5] co-founder and director of K11 Fitness Academy, [6] and celebrity fitness expert. Kaizzad will personally train the winner for the international competition along with mentors who are ex-Strongman winners.
The country has a national organization, the Indian Body Building and Fitness Federation (IBFF), that is recognized by the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness as a national federation, representing the country's bodybuilding community. [7] The national federation is a member of the Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation. [8]

Bodybuilding is the practice of progressive resistance exercise to build, control, and develop one's muscles via hypertrophy. It is primarily undertaken for aesthetic purposes over functional ones, distinguishing it from similar activities such as powerlifting and calisthenics.

Strength athletics, also known as Strongman competitions, is a sport which tests competitors' strength in a variety of non-traditional ways. A strongman is someone who exhibits strength through strength athletics. Strength athletics, also known as strongman competitions, are composed of a variety of events in which competitors have to move the highest weights possible, the winner being the one having the highest tally across all events. In the 19th century, the term strongman referred to an exhibitor of strength or similar circus performers who performed feats of strength.

The Federation organised the World Strongman Cup one of the main competitions in the field of strength athletics boasting participation from some of the foremost strongmen around the globe. The "World Strongman" International Union of associations and clubs ("WSM") is a worldwide organization within strength athletics, founded by Vlad Redkin, a prominent figure in the history of the International Federation of Strength Athletes and World Strongman Cup Federation. Bodybuilding in Thailand includes Thai competitors representing their country at international events. Thai Bodybuilding Federation is the sport's national governing body.

Chitharesh Natesan aka The Indian Monster, is an Indian professional bodybuilder who won the title of Mr. Universe 2019 at the 11th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship organised by World Bodybuilding And Physique Sports Federation held in South Korea. His best friend name is Nibin.C.J. He is the first Indian to win the contest.
Mikhail Volinkin is an Uzbekistani first IFBB professional bodybuilder and winner of Arnold Amateuer Classics 2018 overall in heavyweight category.

Uzbekistan Bodybuilding and Fitness Fedeartion is officially recognised by National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan. The headquarters is located in Tashkent. The Federation is member of Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation (AFBB) and World Bodybuilding & Physique Federation (WBPF). The Federation is responsible for the promotion and growth of the game of bodybuilding in Uzbekistan
