Sports in Mizoram plays an important part of the culture of Mizoram and it plays a key role in development of the state. Football, Basketball and Volleyball are the more popular sports in the Indian state of Mizoram

Football

Mizoram Football Association (MFA) is the state governing body of football in Mizoram, India. [2] It is affiliated with the All India Football Federation, the sports national governing body. Mizoram also has a state League called Mizoram Premier League. Aizawl FC plays in the I-League. [3]

Basketball

Mizoram has the first professional league in India, the Mizoram Super League with six teams in it. [4] The competition is conducted by the Mizoram Basketball Association. [5]

Badminton

Mizoram has a professional league for Badminton called Mizoram Badminton League, [6] Mizoram Badminton league is governed by Mizoram Badminton Association. [7]

Golf

Mizoram has a golf course at Thenzawl which is 105 acres and comprises 18 holes. [8]

Volleyball

The Mizoram Volleyball Association [9] is operating the Pro-league which was started in 2016 with six men's team and three women's team. [10]

Motorsport

Mizoram Motorsport Association (MiMSA) [11] 13 riders participated in the Suzuki Gixxer Cup and the JK Tyre National Racing Championship at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. [12] An annual racing competition is organized by Mizoram Motorsports Association in Tuirial Field annually towards the end of the year. [13]

The Mizoram Weightlifting Association plays a very active role in promoting weightlifting in Mizoram. [14] Mizoram Weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga became the first person from India to win a gold medal in the men's 62 kg categoryat the Youth Olympics. [15]

Cricket

The Cricket Association of Mizoram has a cricket stadium on the outskirts of Mizoram, called Suaka Cricket Stadium. [16] The Association, which was formed in 1992, has eight first division clubs and 24 second division clubs. [17]

The Mizoram team entered the national cricket competitions in the 2018-19 season.

Boxing

Mizoram boxing association has a very good record in national and international boxing. Nutlai Lalbiakkima [18] Jenny R. L. and Zoramthanga (boxer), [19] Lalrinsanga Tlau, [20] who won the WBC World Youth Title in 2021, are some of the more famous boxers from Mizoram.

It is the largest town after the capital, Aizawl, located 165 km (102 miles) south of Aizawl.

Rajiv Gandhi Stadium is an athletic stadium in Mualpui, Salem Veng, Aizawl, Mizoram, India. It is used mainly for football and athletic games. This stadium is named after Rajiv Gandhi, 6th Prime Minister of India and currently it is the home stadium of I-League side Aizawl FC. The stadium is also used by clubs of the Mizoram Premier League.

Chanmari Football Club is an Indian football club based in Aizawl, Mizoram. They are currently competing in Mizoram Premier League, the top level of football in the state of Mizoram. They had also participated in national level competition, 2015 I-League 2nd Division. Their futsal section participates at Futsal Club Championship.

Sângthankima is a humanitarian and social worker in Mizoram, India. He is the founder of Thutak Nunpuitu Team (TNT), a voluntary organisation, which runs the largest charitable institution in Mizoram. His institution, a registered society since 1991 under the Firms and Societies in India, started as a rehabilitation society for alcoholics in Champhai town. With donation of a plot of land in Aizawl city, it expanded into an orphanage with formal school, health centre, and sanatorium. In addition to more than a dozen of awards for his social service, Sangthankima has received an honorary doctorate (D.H.L.) from Rangoon's Methodist Bible College in 2008, Achievers Award 2013 For NGO, Mother Teresa Awards for Social Justice in 2014, and the Mizo Award of 2014.

Mizoram is a state in the northeast of India. Mizoram is considered by many as a beautiful place due to its dramatic landscape and pleasant climate. There have been many attempts to increase revenue through tourism but many potential tourists find the lack of amenities to be a hurdle. However, the State continues to promote itself and many projects have been initiated. The tourism ministry continues to maintain or upgrade its tourist lodges throughout the state. Foreign tourists are required to obtain an 'inner line permit' under the special permit before visiting. The permit can be obtained from Indian missions abroad for a limited number of days or direct from Mizoram Government authorities within India. The state is rich in bird diversity, which has the potentiality to make it a major birding destination. For Mrs Hume's pheasant, Mizoram is a stronghold. There is also a rare record of the wild water buffalo from the state. There are several past records of the Sumatran rhinoceros from Mizoram, then Lushai Hills. The small population of wild elephants can be seen in Ngengpui and Dampa Sanctuaries. Some of the interesting sites are Mizo Poets' Square also known as Mizo Hlakungpui Mual in Mizo, the Great Megaliths locally known as 'Kawtchhuah Ropui'.

The 2016–17 Mizoram Premier League was the fifth season of the Mizoram Premier League, the top-division football league in the Indian state of Mizoram. The league began on 1 September 2016 with eight teams competing. The league final took place on 16 December with Chanmari defeating Bethlehem VT 3–0.
