Boro, also called Bodo, is the largest ethnolinguistic group in the Assam state of India. They are a part of the greater Bodo-Kachari family of ethnolinguistic groups and are spread across northeastern India. They are concentrated mainly in the Bodoland Territorial Region of Assam, though Boros inhabit all other districts of Assam and Meghalaya.
The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) is an autonomous region and a proposed state in Assam, Northeast India. It is made up of five districts on the north bank of the Brahmaputra river below the foothills of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh. It is administered by an elected body known as the Bodoland Territorial Council which came into existence under the terms of a peace agreement signed in February 2003 and its autonomy was further extended by an agreement signed in January 2020. The agreement materialised as a result of the efforts taken by a naval veteran – Cdr. Robin Sharma (retd.), who is now the present president of the Bodoland. The region covers an area of over nine thousand square kilometres and is predominantly inhabited by the Bodo people and other indigenous communities of Assam.
The Tripura Baptist Christian Union (TBCU) is a Baptist Christian denomination in Tripura, India. It has its head office in Agartala, the state capital. The TBCU is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Baptist Federation (APBF) and the Baptist World Alliance (BWA). It is also a member church in the North East India Christian Council (NEICC), a regional church body of the National Council of Churches in India (NCCI). As of 2020, TBCU had 84,795 members in 943 churches.
Rabha Baptist Convention (RBC), previously known as “Rabha Baptist Church Union”, is a Baptist Christian denomination in India. It is in the East of India, primarily in the state of Assam. The Union is made up primarily of Rabha people, an indigenous ethnic group of northeastern India. In 2017, the RBC has 12,356 members in 64 churches of Meghalaya, Assam and West Bengal, and eight fellowships.

Evangelical Baptist Convention is a Baptist Christian denomination in Manipur, India. Their main area of presence is in the southern part of Manipur. It currently has a total of 151 churches and is one of the biggest churches among the tribal groups in the northeastern part of India. Harisinga is a town in the Udalguri district in the north-eastern Indian state of Assam. The district was formed when the administration of boro dominated areas came under the B.T.A.D. It falls on the Bhergaon subdivision of Udalguri district; it has its own police station and post office from the past times itself.

The Boro Baptist Church Association (BBCA) is a Baptist Christian denomination in the state of Assam. Established in 1927 by the American Baptist Missionaries and later nurtured by Australian Baptist Missionary Society ABMS. It consists of 219 churches and fellowships with a total population 40,000 above and 18,000 plus baptized members. The BBCA has its headquarters in the Tukrajhar Baptist Mission compound in Chirang district of Bodoland, Assam. BBCA is working in partnership with Baptist World Alliance, Global Interaction (Australia), Asia Pacific Baptist Federation, Seva Bharat, Missionaries Upholders Trust, Inspire India and Tura Baptist Church in Church Plantation and community development ventures to bring transformation in the lives of people, spiritually and economically. Nalla Thomas was an Asian Christian and a spiritual personality, who served the Church in Assam and undivided Andhra Pradesh for nearly four decades comprising the seventies through the New millennium. He used to compose hymns for enhancing spiritual direction. Thomas was an Ecclesiastical administrator of Samavesam of Telugu Baptist Churches Society.
