Buena Vista (Spanish for "Good View") is a former census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Clara County, California, United States. [1] The population was 1,704 at the 2000 census. [2] The area is now part of the city of San Jose. [1]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.3 km2), all of it land.
As of the census [2] of 2000, there were 1,704 people, 539 households, and 321 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 24,099.1 inhabitants per square mile (9,304.7/km2). There were 557 housing units at an average density of 7,877.5 per square mile (3,041.5/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 45.36% White, 5.28% African American, 0.82% Native American, 3.46% Asian, 0.41% Pacific Islander, 38.38% from other races, and 6.28% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 65.90% of the population.
There were 539 households, out of which 38.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 34.1% were married couples living together, 17.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.4% were non-families. 28.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 4.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.14 and the average family size was 3.83.
In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 30.0% under the age of 18, 12.0% from 18 to 24, 38.7% from 25 to 44, 15.5% from 45 to 64, and 3.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 29 years. For every 100 females, there were 114.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 114.4 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $30,449, and the median income for a family was $27,727. Males had a median income of $18,393 versus $21,940 for females.
