Byomkesh is a 2014 Indian Bengali crime fiction television series based on the Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. The series stars Gaurav Chakrabarty, Saugata Bandyopadhyay and Ridhima Ghosh as Byomkesh Bakshi, Ajit and Satyabati respectively. [1] The series premiered on 20 November 2014 on Colors Bangla channel and ended on 14 November 2015. The first episode was narrated by Sabyasachi Chakrabarty.

Summary

Byomkesh Bakshi (Gaurav Chakrabarty) is a young Bengali private detective who solves spine-chilling cases with his chronicler and associate Ajit Bandyopadhyay (Saugata Bandyopadhyay).

Byomkesh Bakshi is an Indian-Bengali fictional detective created by Sharadindu Bandhopadhay. Referring to himself as a "truth-seeker" in the stories, Bakshi is known for his proficiency with observation, logical reasoning, and forensic science which he uses to solve complicated cases, mostly murders.

Gaurav Chakrabarty Indian actor

Gaurav Chakrabarty is an Indian Bengali film and television actor best known for his portrayal of the character Prodipto Lahiri in the Bengali musical TV series Gaaner Oparey that aired on Star Jalsha from 28 June 2010 to 16 April 2011, and specially for the Bengali classic periodic thriller TV series Byomkesh (2014-2015), where he played the role of iconic Bengali detective Byomkesh Bakshi. He hails from a family which has had a legacy of association with the Bengali cultural arena, starting from Jochhon Dastidar and Chandra Dastidar, Bijon Bhattacharya, Jagadish and Monika Chakrabarty, and his parents Sabyasachi Chakrabarty and Mithu Chakrabarty. He debuted on the big screen in Kaushik Ganguly's Rang Milanti, one of the most appreciated films of the year 2011.

Ridhima Ghosh is a Bengali film actress. She made her acting debut in the Bengali television serial Bou Kotha Kao in Star Jalsha. In 2009, she made her film debut in Friend. After that, she has acted in a number of Bengali films and Bengali TV serials like Rang Milanti, Rajkahini and Byomkesh.

In the same year he acted in Bappaditya Bandopadhyay's Elar Char Adhyay based on Rabindranath Tagore's last novel Char Adhyay as a lead. Soon after he acted in Ami Aar Amar Girlfriends, Hoichoi, Britto and many other films and established himself as a lead in Bengali films. Controversies

It has been reported [4] that the shooting has been halted by a notification issued by the Artist Forum when they received several complaints against the production house Dag Creative Media. Complaints had been made by several artistes about non payment of dues for multiple months.The Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India has come out in support of the artists.
