Casey Hudson is a Canadian video game developer, known for his work on several of BioWare's video games, and mainly the Mass Effect trilogy as game director.

Biography

After obtaining a degree in mechanical engineering, [1] Hudson began his career at the Canadian video game developer BioWare with credits as a technical artist on several games, including MDK 2 . [2] He eventually became the project director of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic . [2] Hudson fulfilled the same role in the development of the Mass Effect trilogy, [2] a series of games based on a new science fiction intellectual property.

On August 7, 2014, Hudson left BioWare to pursue other projects. [3] On May 18, 2015, Microsoft announced that Hudson had joined their video game production wing at Microsoft Studios as creative director. [4] On July 18, 2017, Hudson announced that he had returned to BioWare and replaced Aaryn Flynn as general manager for the studio. [5]

Hudson announced he was departing BioWare a second time on December 3, 2020. [6]

In June 2021, Hudson announced that he had established a new game development studio, Humanoid Origin, that was working on a new intellectual property [7] later to be revealed as Space Age: Parallax [8] . On November 25, 2024, Humanoid Origin announced its closure [9] .

He left BioWare in 2012 to focus on his Chaos Born novels, and returned to it three years later in 2015. James Ohlen is a video game designer. He was Senior Creative Director of BioWare where he worked for 22 years prior to starting the publishing company Arcanum Worlds in 2018. In 2019, Ohlen became the lead of a new internal development studio Archetype Entertainment under Wizards of the Coast to develop new intellectual property and video games for the company.

The M35 Mako is a fictional vehicle that appears in the Mass Effect video game franchise. A six-wheeled tank / utility vehicle, it appears in the original Mass Effect as a drivable transport vehicle which is also capable of providing combat support. The Mako was originally intended for inclusion in Mass Effect: Andromeda, though a similar vehicle known as the ND-1 Nomad was featured instead. The Mako was widely criticized for being awkward to control in the game's vehicle sections, which was also described as lacking in meaningful content, leading to its removal as a drivable vehicle from later titles due to the substantial negative feedback. However, retrospective opinions of the vehicle have recognized it as an iconic aspect of the series in spite of its gameplay flaws.
