Moa Anna Maria Carlebecker (born 10 November 1988), better known by her stage name Cazzi Opeia, is a Swedish DJ, singer and songwriter.

Life and career

1988–2010: Early life and beginnings

Moa Anna Carlebecker was born Jönköping County, located in southern Sweden, and grew up traveling around Europe and in the US with her family. She is a cousin of presenter Gry Forssell. [1] The name Cazzi Opeia comes from the star constellation Cassiopeia. [2]

She took part in the sixth season of Idol in 2009. [3] She reached the semi-finals where she was beaten by Mariette Hansson and Erika Selin.

2011–2015: Music career

She was discovered by the producer Billy Mann and the record company Macho Records, who previously worked with Pink, Cher, and Jessica Simpson. Her first single "I Belong To You" became a hit when the artist DJ Tiësto took the remix on his Club Life record, making Cazzi Opeia a name globally. She has also been praised for her style and music by celebrity blogger Perez Hilton in connection with her dubstep cover by Lady Gaga's hit song "Judas". [4]

2016–2017: "Batman & Robin"

In 2016, Cazzi Opeia signed an exclusive worldwide publishing agreement with EKKO Music Rights Europe. She also signed an exclusive worldwide record deal with Superior Recordings licensed to Cosmos Music Group and The Orchard in 2017. She released the single, titled "Batman & Robin" together with Jin X Jin.

2017–2018: "Wild Ones" and "Rich"

On 5 May 2017, Cazzi Opeia was featured on artist 528's track, titled "Meat". The track was released by independent record label "Hurdy Gurdy Noise". [5]

Cazzi Opeia's single, titled "Wild Ones" released by Superior Recordings / Cosmos Music on 1 December 2017 and featured the "Wild Ones" track and the instrumental version as well [6] Along with the song being released, Cazzi Opeia teamed up with the Swedish Space Corporation and broadcast her single into space, more specifically in the direction of the Cassiopeia constellation. [7]

2022–present: Melodifestivalen and Eurovision

Cazzi Opeia competed in Melodifestivalen 2022 with the song "I Can't Get Enough". [8] She performed in Heat 3 on 19 February 2022, qualifying to the semi-final on 5 March, from which she qualified for the final on 12 March 2022, when she finished 9th. [9]

In 2023, she co-wrote "Tattoo" performed by Loreen, which came first in Melodifestivalen 2023, and proceeded to win the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 held in Liverpool. [10]

Cazzi Opeia participated in Melodifestivalen 2024 with "Give My Heart a Break"; she also co-wrote the entry "Effortless" for Jacqline. [11] She finished second in her heat on 17 February 2024, qualifying for the final, [12] where she finished in 4th place. [13]

<i>We Go Up</i> 2018 EP by NCT Dream

We Go Up is the second extended play by South Korean–Chinese boy band NCT Dream, the third and teen-aged sub-unit of the South Korean boy band NCT. Released by SM Entertainment on September 3, 2018 and distributed by iriver, the album contains five new Korean songs and a Mandarin version of the album's eponymous single, marking it their latest release to contain a Mandarin record. The extended play was the unit's first major release to feature member Jaemin since their debut single "Chewing Gum" in August 2016; following his medical hiatus since early 2017. <i>We Boom</i> Extended play by NCT Dream

We Boom is the third extended play of South Korean–Chinese boy band NCT Dream, the third and teen-aged sub-unit of the South Korean boy band NCT. Released by SM Entertainment and Dreamus digitally on July 26, 2019, and later physically three days later, the EP consists of six tracks, and is the first release of the unit to not contain any Mandarin version for the lead single. SM founder Lee Soo-man continued as the release's executive producer, while several songwriters and producers, such as Ryan S. Jhun, Yoo Young-jin, Sonny J Mason, Deez, Moonshine, Cazzi Opeia, Benjamin Ingrosso, Livvi Franc, Louis Schoorl, Bobii Lewis, Jamil `Digi` Christmas, MZMC, and others, contributed both lyrics and production to the extended play. Lee Tae-yong, known mononymously as Taeyong, is a South Korean rapper, singer, songwriter, and dancer. Alexaundra Christine Schneiderman, known professionally as AleXa (Korean: 알렉사) and formerly Alex Christine, is an American singer based in South Korea. After competing in both seasons of the reality show Rising Legends, AleXa signed with Zanybros' ZB Label in 2018 and trained there for roughly two and a half years. During this time, she also competed on Mnet's Produce 48. She debuted as a K-pop singer in October 2019. In 2022, she represented her home state Oklahoma in NBC's American Song Contest with the song "Wonderland" where she won with 710 points.

"Psycho" is a song that was recorded by South Korean girl group Red Velvet and was released as the lead single from their first compilation album The ReVe Festival: Finale (2019), which is the third and final installment in the group's album trilogy The ReVe Festival. The song was composed by Andrew "Druski" Scott, Cazzi Opeia, and EJAE; was arranged by the former Druski and long-time SM Entertainment record producer Yoo Young-jin; and the Korean lyrics were written by Kenzie. "Psycho" is an R&B track that incorporates elements of pop, trap and future bass, and is about a couple who are in a complicated romantic relationship. A gothic-themed music video accompanied the single's digital release on December 23, 2019.

<i>Not Shy</i> 2020 EP by Itzy

Not Shy is the third extended play by South Korean girl group Itzy. It was released on August 17, 2020, by JYP Entertainment. It is available in three versions and contains six tracks, including the lead single of the same name. The EP marks a growth in music production and collaboration as they tap known hitmakers such as SM Entertainment songwriter Kenzie and producers LDN Noise. Musically, Not Shy is a K-pop record that contains influences of pop rock and hip hop.

"Pose" is a song recorded by South Korean girl group Red Velvet for their sixth Korean extended play (EP), Queendom. It was released as part of the EP on August 16, 2021, by SM Entertainment. The up-tempo dance-pop song is written by Lee Seu-ran and composed by Fabian Torsson, Harry Sommerdahl, Ylva Dimberg, and Moa "Cazzi Opeia" Carlebecker.
