The two finalists (Duda and Sergey Karjakin) qualified for the Candidates Tournament 2022. The rest of the final eight, except Magnus Carlsen, qualified for the FIDE Grand Prix 2022.

In parallel with this open tournament, an inaugural women-only version was held.

Notes

  1. Aronian forfeited both games for health-related reasons. [16]
  2. Caruana won the first game by forfeit, after Megaranto's COVID-19 test was confirmed as positive, 15 moves into the first game. [17] As a result, Megaranto was forced to forfeit the second game. FIDE confirmed a mid-game forfeit had occurred, but did not name the player, citing "privacy regulations". [18]
