The French overseas department of Mayotte is divided into 17 communes.
Most are located on the island of Grande Terre, except for Dzaoudzi and Pamandzi which are located on Petite Terre.
The communes cooperate in the following intercommunalities (as of 2022): [1]
Same communes, classified by decreasing population (Mayotte counted 160,506 inhabitants in total in 2002, for an average population density of 430.0 inhabitants/km2, more than four times the national average). The average or mean population of the communes is 9,441 inhabitants, while the median population is 6,963 inhabitants, much higher than the average and median population of Metropolitan France (1,542 and 380 inhabitants respectively). Each commune generally consists of several villages.

It is located in the northern part of the Mozambique Channel in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Southeastern Africa, between Northwestern Madagascar and Northeastern Mozambique. Mayotte consists of a main island, Grande-Terre, a smaller island, Petite-Terre, as well as several islets around these two. Mayotte is the most prosperous territory in the Mozambique Channel, making it a major destination for immigration.

Communauté d'agglomération Valenciennes Métropole is the communauté d'agglomération, an intercommunal structure, centred on the city of Valenciennes. It is located in the Nord department, in the Hauts-de-France region, northern France. It was created in December 2000. Its area is 263.5 km2. Its population was 192,787 in 2018, of which 43,405 in Valenciennes proper.
The Communauté d'agglomération des Deux Baies en Montreuillois is a communauté d'agglomération, an intercommunal structure, in the Pas-de-Calais department, in the Hauts-de-France region, northern France. It was created in January 2017 by the merger of the former communautés de communes Montreuillois, Opale Sud and Mer et Terres d'Opale. Its seat is in Montreuil. Its area is 409.1 km2. Its population was 66,119 in 2018.
