The England cricket team toured the West Indies in December 2023 to play three One Day International (ODI) and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. [1] [2] [3] The International Cricket Council (ICC) finalized the bilateral series in a press release. [4] [5] In May 2023, Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced the schedule for the series. [6] [7] The T20I series formed part of both teams' preparation for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. [8]

During the third and final ODI of the series, West Indies players wore black armbands to mourn the deaths of former West Indies cricketers Joe Solomon and Clyde Butts and a minute's silence was observed prior to the start of the match. [9] West Indies won the 3-match ODI series 2-1 by defeating in the final rain affected match by 4 wickets. [10]

West Indies also won the 5-match T20I series 3–2. [11]

On 23 November 2023, Josh Tongue was ruled out from entire tour due to an injury, [16] with Matthew Potts named as his replacement in England's ODI squad. [17]

On 30 November 2023, Shane Dowrich announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect, [18] and was withdrawn from the West Indies' ODI squad with no replacement named. [19]

For the last two T20Is, Shimron Hetmyer was dropped and Alzarri Joseph was rested, [20] with Johnson Charles and Oshane Thomas were named their respective replacements in the West Indies' squad. [21]

Jason Omar Holder is a Barbadian cricketer and the former captain of the West Indies cricket team. He is a right arm medium-fast bowling all-rounder who features in all three cricketing formats. In January 2019, he was ranked as the number one all rounder in the world according to the official ICC Test rankings. In August 2019, Cricket West Indies named him as the Test Player of the Year and on 14 April 2021, Holder was named one of Wisden's Five Cricketers of the Year. Holder is the first West Indian male cricketer to take a hat-trick in a T20I, and the fifth, to achieve both 2000 runs and 100 wickets in one day internationals. He is also the second West Indian, after Sir Garfield Sobers, to attain both 2500 runs and 150 wickets in test match cricket. Holder was a member of the West Indies team that won the 2016 T20 World Cup.

The Pakistani national cricket team toured the West Indies from March 2017 to May 2017. The tour consisted of a series of three Test matches, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and four Twenty20 internationals (T20Is). The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) looked at the possibility of playing the T20I matches at the Central Broward Regional Park in Florida, as they did against India in August 2016. However, the WICB kept all the fixtures for this tour in the Caribbean.

The West Indies cricket team toured New Zealand in December 2017 and January 2018 to play two Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. Three Tests were originally planned, but it was reduced to two by New Zealand Cricket (NZC) to conform to the expected tour make-up when the ICC World Test Championship is implemented. The Bangladesh cricket team toured the West Indies and the United States between June and August 2018 to play two Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The final two T20I matches took place at the Central Broward Regional Park, in Lauderhill, Florida. The second Test took place in Jamaica, fourteen years after Bangladesh last played a Test there. Bangladesh last toured the West Indies in September 2014.

It was the first Test match that Afghanistan played against the West Indies. The two teams had played each other ten times before, with the majority of matches in the Caribbean, with this being Afghanistan's fourth Test match. All the matches were played at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

The England cricket team toured South Africa from December 2019 to February 2020 to play four Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test series formed part of the inaugural 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship. Cricket South Africa confirmed the fixtures for the tour in May 2019.

The New Zealand cricket team toured the West Indies in August 2022 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. Joshua Da Silva is a Trinidadian cricketer. He made his domestic debut in 2018 for Trinidad and Tobago, and his international debut for the West Indies cricket team in December 2020.

The West Indies cricket team toured Sri Lanka in February and March 2020 to play three One Day International (ODI) and two Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The full schedule for the tour was confirmed by Sri Lanka Cricket on 21 January 2020. The West Indies last toured Sri Lanka in October and November 2015.

The England cricket team toured Bangladesh in March 2023 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. It was the first bilateral T20I series between the two teams, and England's first tour of Bangladesh since 2016.

The Australia cricket team toured the West Indies in June and July 2021 to play three One Day International (ODI) and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODI matches formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. The fixtures for the tour were confirmed by Cricket West Indies (CWI) in May 2021. The Australian cricket team arrived in the West Indies on 28 May 2021, after the majority players had been vaccinated for COVID-19.

The India cricket team toured England in July 2022 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against the England cricket team. In September 2021, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that India would also play a one-off Test match, after the fifth Test in 2021 was cancelled. The following month, the ECB confirmed that the rescheduled match would determine the outcome of last summer's Test series, and was played ahead of the T20I series.

The West Indian cricket team toured Australia from October to December 2022 to play two Test matches and two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The T20Is formed part of both teams' preparations for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, while the Test matches formed part of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship. In May 2022, Cricket Australia confirmed the fixtures for the tour.

The Test series formed part of the 2023–2025 ICC World Test Championship. The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed this FTP tour in their press release in August 2022.

The Ireland women's cricket team toured the West Indies in June and July 2023 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODI series formed part of the 2022–2025 ICC Women's Championship. In March 2023, Cricket Ireland (CI) announced their summer schedule, including the dates of this tour. Cricket West Indies (CWI) confirmed the schedule of the tour in June 2023.
