Feral Interactive Limited is a British video games developer and publisher for macOS, Linux, iOS, [2] Android, Nintendo Switch [3] and Microsoft Windows platforms. It was founded in 1996 to bring games to Mac and specialises in porting games to different platforms. [4] [5]

Feral have partnered with publishers like Square Enix Europe, 2K Games, Sega Europe, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Codemasters to port and publish their games for platforms that the publishers themselves are not supporting. [6] It has offered its games on digital download services like Direct2Drive since 2011. [6]

History

From 1996 to 2013, Feral Interactive published games exclusively for macOS. In June 2014, Feral released its first game for Linux, XCOM: Enemy Unknown . [7] [8] In November 2016, Feral released its first game for iOS, Rome: Total War for iPad, [9] following in November 2017 with its first iOS release simultaneously for both iPhone and iPad, GRID Autosport . [10] Feral's first Android release, Rome: Total War, came in December 2018. [11] Feral Interactive released its first Nintendo Switch title, GRID Autosport, in September 2019. [12] Feral developed the remaster of Rome: Total War in collaboration with Creative Assembly, released in April 2021, which is its first game for Windows. [13] In July 2021 they cancelled their upcoming Linux port of Total War Saga: Troy citing lack of demand due to the availability of Proton, [14] [15] [16] and although they released a port of Total War: Warhammer III in 2022, they also confirmed none is planned for Total War: Pharaoh . They had previously declined to adapt their ports to support the Steam Deck.

Awards

In 2006, the Mac version of The Movies won a BAFTA award for the best game in the Simulation category. [17] In 2012, the Mac version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution won a 2012 Apple Design Award as part of the Mac Developer Showcase. [18] [19]

<i>Rome: Total War: Alexander</i> 2006 video game

Rome: Total War: Alexander is the second expansion pack for Rome: Total War. It is set in an earlier time period, putting the player in the role of Alexander the Great. It begins with Alexander's ascension to the Macedonian throne in 336 BC and lasts for 100 turns. The game is much the same as the original Rome: Total War, but with fewer factions, different units, and a different map. The expansion was released in 2006 for Microsoft Windows. The macOS version of Rome: Total War: Alexander was released on 27 February 2014 by Feral Interactive. A standalone version of the expansion, also by Feral, was released for the iPad on 27 July 2017. An iPhone and Android version of the game was released on 24 October 2019.

Two Tribes B.V. is an independent video game developer based in Harderwijk, Netherlands. Founded in 2001 by Martijn Reuvers and Collin van Ginkel, it develops its own intellectual property and games for franchises. The office closed in September 2016, after the release of Rive, but Two Tribes continues development of the Nintendo Switch version of Rive, as well as supporting older games.

<i>Zen Bound</i> 2009 video game

Zen Bound is a puzzle game for the iOS, Android, and Maemo platforms, developed by Secret Exit. The game was announced in September 2008 via the company's discussion board, and officially released via the App Store on February 24, 2009, and via Ovi Store on June 16, 2010. An Android port was released on March 19, 2012. The game has received press attention for its unique gameplay. A lite version of the game was also released for free which featured 2 levels of the game. A sequel, Zen Bound 2, was released for iOS on April 1, 2010, for Steam on November 16, 2010, and for the Nintendo Switch in Europe and North America on May 24, 2018.

<i>Edge</i> (video game) 2008 video game

Edge is a puzzle-platform game developed by Mobigame for PC and iOS devices. The objective is to guide a rolling cube through maze-like levels and reach the goal. Originally released on the App Store in December 2008, it has been removed and re-added to the store multiple times due to a trademark dispute with Tim Langdell of Edge Games, concerning the use of the word "Edge" in the title. This had caused the game to be briefly released as Edge by Mobigame and Edgy, before ultimately returning to the App Store under its original name in January 2010. The game was released on multiple platforms including mobile phones, PlayStation Portable, Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Android, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS. It was released on Steam in August 2011 by publisher Two Tribes.

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is an adventure and indie game created by Superbrothers and Capybara Games, with music by Jim Guthrie. It was initially released for iOS devices, with a version for Microsoft Windows via Steam coming later. Mac OS X and Linux ports were included with the release of Humble Indie Bundle V, while a port to the Android platform was released as part of the fourth Humble Bundle for Android. Additionally, a port to Nintendo Switch was released, combining both mobile and computer-like control schemes, as well as adding controller support. The Room is a puzzle video game developed by Fireproof Games. The game was originally developed for the iOS platform and released in 12 September 2012. The Android version debuted as part of a Humble Bundle in March 2013 and was subsequently released on Google Play. A free expansion for the title was released in August 2013. An enhanced version of the game was released for Microsoft Windows in July 2014, and for the Nintendo Switch in October 2018.

Grid Autosport is a 2014 racing video game developed by Codemasters for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Linux, iOS, macOS, Nintendo Switch and Android. It is the third game in the Grid series. It aims to move the series back towards "more authentic racing games" following the release of Grid 2, which Codemasters felt was not as well-received by the company's core fanbase as it was hoped for. The developers consequently introduced major modifications to the handling model and built a lean, race-first oriented design for this title.

<i>Dicey Dungeons</i> 2019 video game

Dicey Dungeons is a roguelike deck-building game developed by Irish game designer Terry Cavanagh. It was released for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux in August 2019, for Nintendo Switch in December 2020, for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in November 2021, and for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in February 2023.
