Great Barrier Aerodrome( IATA : GBZ, ICAO : NZGB) is the major airfield on Great Barrier Island. It is a small, non-towered aerodrome at Claris on Great Barrier Island in the Hauraki Gulf off the North Island of New Zealand. Fuel is not available.

The town of Claris is adjacent and there are rental car and bicycle hire services available at the airport. Landing fees were previously payable at Council offices, but are now billed direct to aircraft operators.

Feral pigs run loose on and in the vicinity of Great Barrier Aerodrome. [1]

The aerodrome has two runways a grass strip and a marked asphalt runway which is 930m by 9m wide. Landing fees are charged by Auckland Transport and are invoiced to the registered owner of the aircraft as per the CAA register of aircraft. Landing fees are (inclusive of GST). $20 for private and $12 for scheduled commercial flights. [2]

Picton Aerodrome is a Non-Certificated Aerodrome 4 NM south of Picton township in the Marlborough District of the South Island in New Zealand. Sounds Air has 5 flights per day to Wellington. The Marlborough Sounds Airpark is located nearby offering 16 private hangars adjacent to the main runway with remote control access for the owners to park their aircraft. On 2 January 1986, seven people died when a Cessna aircraft crashed on takeoff near Picton. This was an engine failure in the climb after takeoff and unrelated to the Airport itself. In another accident on 29 January 1996, five died when a Cessna Caravan crashed on approach to Picton. A Coroner's inquest found that the en-route accident could have been prevented had the Caravan been able to fly IFR, as happens now.
