According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 35.3 square miles (91.4 km2), all of it land.
As of the census [2] of 2000, there were 594 people, 170 households, and 146 families residing in the town. The population density was 16.8 people per square mile (6.5/km2). There were 182 housing units at an average density of 5.2 per square mile (2.0/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 97.64% White, 0.00% African American, 1.18% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.84% from other races, and 0.34% from two or more races. 1.35% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 170 households, out of which 44.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.5% were married couples living together, 5.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.1% were non-families. 10.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
