I Can See Your Voice franchise |
I Can See Your Voice is a Dutch television mystery music game show series based on the South Korean programme of the same name. Since the show's premiere on 29 October 2020, [1] [2] it has aired five seasons on RTL 4.
Presented with a group of "mystery singers" [lower-alpha 1] identified only by their occupation, a guest artist and contestant(s) [lower-alpha 1] must attempt to eliminate bad singers from the group without ever hearing them sing, assisted by clues and a celebrity panel over the course of four rounds. At the end of the game, the last remaining mystery singer is revealed as either good or bad by means of a duet between them and one of the guest artists.
From first to third season, if the singer is good, the contestant(s) wins €5,000; if the singer is bad, the same amount is given to the bad singer instead.
From fourth to fifth season, the contestant(s) must eliminate one mystery singer at the end of each round, receiving €1,000 if they eliminate a bad singer. At the end of the game, the contestant(s) may either end the game and keep the money they had won in previous rounds, or risk it for a chance to win €7,500 by correctly guessing whether the last remaining mystery singer is good or bad.
After RTL Deutschland adapted a German counterpart of I Can See Your Voice [6] [7] and then successful broadcasts of The Masked Singer , RTL Nederland followed suit by formally acquiring the rights to produce a local adaptation of the said show in the Netherlands in March 2020, [8] including with production duties assigned by Warner Bros. International Television Production. [9] [10]
Filming of the show took place at various locations, such as Mediahaven in Amsterdam and Studio's Aalsmeer in Aalsmeer. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it has filmed under implementing health and safety protocols for the first two seasons.
I Can See Your Voice initially scheduled to debut on 8 May 2020, [11] but it was delayed until 29 October 2020. [1] [2] A day after its first season finale, the series was already renewed for a second season [12] that premiered on 22 April 2021. [13] [14] The third season premiere that initially scheduled for 17 February 2022, began airing earlier on 21 January 2022. [lower-alpha 1] A fourth season premiered on 31 August 2022, [23] [24] followed by a fifth season on its same date in 2023, [10] [25] which was later moved to 19 October 2023. [26]
Silver Metz played in the kids special (of a second season that concluded) on 10 June 2021, [27] [28] followed by Francis van Broekhuizen in holiday special (of a fourth season) on 22 December 2022. [29]
The series has a panel of celebrities who assist the guest artist(s) to decipher mystery singers' identities throughout the game. Alongside with mainstays, guest panelists also appear since the first season. Overall, 7 different members have been assigned, with the original lineup being Marieke Elsinga , Ronnie Flex, Jeroen van Koningsbrugge, Fred van Leer, and Samantha Steenwijk . [30]
Beside them, subsequent members joining on that lineup also include Danny de Munk and Edsilia Rombley (from second season). [31] [32]
