Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe, formerly known as BW-Bank Meeting and officially known as the Init Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe, is an annual indoor track and field competition which takes place in January or February in Karlsruhe, Germany. The meeting was first held at the Europahalle in 1985 and is currently a World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold-level event, the highest level of one-day indoor meeting in the World Athletics calendar. The athletics meeting is known for having strong fields in the short sprint events. [1] The 2016 edition was part of the inaugural IAAF World Indoor Tour.

The meeting has a strong tradition in the 60 metres hurdles event – Susanna Kallur set a women's world record in 2008, while Liu Xiang and Márcio de Souza have set continental records on the men's side.

It was previously known as the LBBW Meeting, changing to BW-Bank Meeting in 2006. [2]

A strict limit of 199 occupants following safety concerns after modified fire safety regulations in Germany required in 2015 that the meeting was moved to Dm-Arena in Rheinstetten on Karlsruhe's exhibition areal. The sport infrastructure is temporary, it was first used in the 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Gothenburg and was acquired by the city of Karlsruhe with the intention to be able to host various more high-profile athletics events in Dm-Arena than would be possible in Europahalle even if it is put back in normal operation.

The 1500 metres or 1,500-metre run is the foremost middle distance track event in athletics. The distance has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 and the World Championships in Athletics since 1983. It is equivalent to 1.5 kilometers or approximately 15⁄16 miles. The event is closely associated with its slightly longer cousin, the mile race, from which it derives its nickname "the metric mile".

Genzebe Dibaba Keneni is an Ethiopian middle- and long-distance runner. A 1,500 metres 2016 Rio Olympics silver medalist, she won a gold medal in this event and a bronze in the 5,000 metres at the 2015 World Championships. Genzebe is the current world record holder for the indoor events of the one mile, 3,000m and 5,000m.

The PSD Bank Meeting was an annual indoor track and field competition which took place in February at the Arena-Sportpark in Düsseldorf, Germany. The inaugural edition 1. Internationales Indoor Meeting Düsseldorf was held in 2006 and attracted a sell-out crowd of 1500 people. The competition was created following investment by the Düsseldorf municipal council, bringing a new usage to the venue which had served as a training facility for the 1977 IAAF World Cup.

The Birmingham Indoor Grand Prix, formerly known as Aviva Indoor Grand Prix, is an annual indoor track and field competition which is held in mid-February at the Arena Birmingham in Birmingham, England. It is one of a handful of events to hold IAAF Indoor Permit Meetings status. As one of the later major meetings of the indoor athletics season, it often serves as preparation for the biennial European Athletics Indoor Championships and IAAF World Indoor Championships. The meeting is directed by former athlete Ian Stewart and attracts numerous high calibre athletes including World and Olympic medallists.

Dawit Seyaum Biratu is an Ethiopian middle- and long-distance runner who specialises in the 1500 metres. She placed fourth at the 2015 World Championships and won the silver medal at the 2016 World Indoor Championships. Dawit took a bronze in the 5000 metres at the 2022 World Championships.

The 2016 IAAF World Indoor Tour was the inaugural edition of the IAAF World Indoor Tour, planned as an annual series of track and field indoor meetings. It was designed to create an IAAF Diamond League-style circuit for indoor track and field events, to raise the profile of indoor track and field athletics.
