Jiang Zunyu (born June 1957) is a former Chinese politician, [1] best known for his term as one of the top officials of the Special Economic Zone of Shenzhen. He held the title of Secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Political and Legal Commission before his dismissal in 2014 on suspicion of corruption. [2] [3]
Jiang was born and raised in Feng County,Jiangsu. He graduated from the Xi'an Political School of the People's Liberation Army. He then worked in a series of military construction projects. He got involved in politics in February 1976 and joined the Chinese Communist Party in July 1978. Jiang came to Shenzhen in the 1980s,when the city was becoming a boomtown from the creation of the Special Economic Zone in the area. Between 1989 and 1992 Jiang worked for the office overseeing the construction of the Shenzhen airport. In 1992 he joined the municipal land management bureau.
In August 2001,he entered the municipal government,becoming the deputy secretary-general,a position he held until July 2005. He became the Party Secretary of Longgang District in October 2009. He served there until April 2013,when he was appointed as the Secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Politics and Law Commission,and joined the municipal Party Standing Committee,making him a full department-level official.
On October 13,2014,state media reported that he was being investigated by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Chinese Communist Party for "serious violations of laws and regulations". The preliminary investigation into Jiang revealed that his family had acquired some 42 properties and owned financial assets in the form of cash and securities totalling over 200 million yuan (>$32 million). Jiang Zunyu was expelled from the Communist Party on April 7,2015,after an investigation by the CCDI. The investigation concluded that Jiang had abused his power to seek benefits for others in construction projects,received cash gifts,participated in gambling,and took large amounts of bribes personally and through his family. [5]
Jiang's trial opened in May 2016. He was charged with taking bribes worth some 32 million yuan and 46 million Hong Kong dollars. He disputed the charges against him and said that he fabricated incriminating evidence in order to satisfy the interrogation of the disciplinary authorities;Jiang said,"to come up with all this pretext,it took me a whole week of work!" [6] At court,Jiang only admitted to receiving an equivalent of 4 million yuan in bribes in the form of cash,a sports car,and some gold bars. [6] On August 28,2017,Jiang was sentenced to life in prison upon being convicted on charges of bribery;he appealed the sentence. [7] The Higher People's Court of Guangdong rejected his appeal on June 21,2019. [8]
Jin Daoming is a former Chinese politician who spent his career in Beijing and Shanxi province. Of Manchu descent,Jin worked for China's top anti-corruption body between 1993 and 2006. He was then transferred to work in Taiyuan as the head of the provincial anti-corruption agency and later,Deputy Party Secretary of Shanxi province. Jin was placed under investigation by the same agency he once worked for on suspicion of corruption in 2014. He was sentenced to life in prison.
Bai Yun is a Chinese regional politician from Shanxi province. She was the Communist Party Secretary of Yuncheng between 2012 and 2013. Bai was the first female official of provincial-ministerial rank to be investigated for corruption after the 18th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party. At the time the investigation against her was opened,she was serving as a member of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and the Head of the United Front Work Department of Shanxi Province. She was expelled from the Party in 2015 for abuse of power and accepting bribes.
Nie Chunyu is a former Chinese politician from Shanxi province. He served on the province's party Standing Committee,and as the Secretary-General of the Party Committee,a position responsible for the coordination and execution of routine party work. Prior to that he served as the Head of the party's provincial United Front Work Department,and Party Secretary of Lüliang. He was removed from office in August 2014 along with several high-ranking colleagues,and placed under investigation for corruption by the party's anti-graft agency.
Liu Suiji is a former Chinese politician and police officer from Shanxi Province. Liu served as the Secretary of the Taiyuan Political and Legislative Affairs Committee (Zhengfawei),in addition to being the provincial capital's police chief. In August 2014 Liu was placed under investigation by the Communist Party's anti-corruption agency.
Yang Xin is a former Chinese politician from Heilongjiang Province. He was the Party Secretary and Mayor of Qiqihar,and prior to that Mayor of Daqing. In September 2014 Yang was investigated by the Communist Party's anti-corruption body.
Jiang Shan is a former Chinese politician who spent most of his career in east China's Anhui province. As of April 2014 he was under investigation by the Communist Party's anti-corruption agency,and he was expelled from the party and removed from office in December 2014. Previously he served as the Communist Party Secretary of Chuzhou.
Chu Zhongzhi is a Chinese politician from Yunnan province in southwestern China. As of January 2015,he was under investigation by the Communist Party's anti-corruption agency. Previously,he served as the Communist Party Secretary of Dali and a member of the Standing Committee of the CCP Dali Bai Autonomous Prefectural Committee.
Yu Yuanhui is a Chinese politician of ethnic Yao heritage who spent most of his career in Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Until 2015,he served as the Communist Party Secretary of Nanning,capital of Guangxi,and was a Standing Committee member of the regional party organization. In May 2015,he was put under investigation by the Chinese Communist Party's anti-corruption agency. An alternate member of the Central Committee from 2007 until his downfall,Yu was duly expelled from the party and lost his Central Committee seat in 2015 and was sentenced to 11 years in jail.
Over one hundred officials of provincial-ministerial level and above have been implicated by the anti-corruption campaign in China,which began after the 18th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party in 2012. The number of officials implicated below the provincial level are much higher. Chen Xuefeng is a former Chinese politician and mining executive from Henan province. He was investigated by the Communist Party of China's anti-graft agency in January 2016 and expelled from the party a few months later. He served as Communist Party Secretary of Luoyang,the top political position in the city,from July 2013 to January 2016. He was a member of the Henan Provincial Party Standing Committee.
Wang Like is a Chinese police official and politician of Manchu heritage,serving since 2015 as the Secretary of Jiangsu Provincial Political and Legal Affairs Commission (Zhengfawei),and a member of the provincial Party Standing Committee. In September 2022,Wang Like was given the death sentence with reprieve for bribery and corruption.

Zhang Zhongsheng is a former Chinese politician who spent his entire career in his home-province Shanxi. He was investigated by China's top anti-graft agency in May 2014. Previously he served as vice mayor of Lüliang,and before that,magistrate and then party secretary of Zhongyang County,the coal-rich county where he worked for over 34 years. Zhang was sacked for graft in May 2014 and was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for accepting bribes worth 1.04 billion yuan.
Ding Xuefeng is a former Chinese politician who served as mayor of Lüliang between 2012 and 2014. He was investigated by China's top anti-graft agency in February 2014.
Fu Zhongwei is a former Chinese politician who spent his entire career in northeast China's Liaoning province. As of November 2022,he was under investigation by China's top anti-corruption agency. He is the second ministerial-level official to be targeted by anti-corruption authorities since the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party in October 2022. Previously he served as chairman of Shenyang Municipal People's Congress and before that,party secretary of Panjin.
