Zhao Shaolin (born October 1946) is a former Chinese politician who spent most of his career in Jiangsu province. [1] Beginning in the 1990s,Zhao served as the mayor,then Communist Party Secretary,of the city of Huaiyin (now Huai'an). [2] In 1998,he became the Secretary General of the Jiangsu provincial Party Committee,in charge of the execution of provincial party policy. He retired from politics in November 2006. Subsequently,he became vice-president of the non-profit China Aging Development Foundation. He was investigated by the Communist Party's anti-graft body in 2014 for corruption,then expelled from the Communist Party;he faces criminal charges related to bribery and foreign exchange fraud. [3]
Zhao was born and raised in Yuanping City,Shanxi province,during the Republic of China.
In 1965,he entered the Harbin Institute of Military Engineering (哈尔滨军事工程学院),majoring in radio measurement,after graduating in 1970 he was assigned to Nanjing Bridge Machinery Works (南京大桥机器厂).
He became involved in politics in August 1965 and joined the Chinese Communist Party in April 1973.
Beginning in 1982,he served in several posts in Nanjing,capital of Jiangsu province,including party chief of Gulou District,and Deputy Party Secretary and Secretary General of the Nanjing Party Committee.
In September 1992,he became the Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Huaiyin;he was re-elected in 1993. He was elevated to party chief of Huaiyin in 1994.
In June 1998,he was promoted to become the Secretary General of the provincial party committee,and a provincial Party Standing Committee member. He was re-elected in March 2000,and began his third term in April 2003.
In December 2006,he became the First Vice-president of the China Aging Development Foundation (中国老龄事业发展基金会).
On October 11,2014,the state media reported that he was being investigated by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the Chinese Communist Party for "serious violations of laws and regulations".
On August 14,2015,Zhao was expelled from the Chinese Communist Party after investigation by the CCDI. It was said that Zhao violated "political discipline,political rules,and organizational discipline,formed cliques within the party." The CCDI also accused Zhao of unduly aiding in the business interests of his son and visiting "private clubs",attending banquets to give cash gifts and give bribes along with his son. He was indicted on two criminal charges:bribery and fraudulent purchase of foreign exchange. [4]
Zhao was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 15 million yuan (US$2.19 million) on May 18,2017. [5]
Zhao's son,Zhao Jin (赵晋),was a businessman who worked in Tianjin. [6]
Wang Min is a former politician of the People's Republic of China. He successively served as Communist Party Secretary of Liaoning province,Party Secretary and Governor of Jilin province,and Vice Governor of Jiangsu province. Once considered a promising future leader in the Communist Party,Wang retired from his provincial leadership positions in 2015,before coming under investigation for corruption in 2016. He was sentenced to life in prison upon being convicted on charges of bribery and dereliction of duty.
Zhao Zhengyong is a former politician of the People's Republic of China who served as Communist Party Secretary,Governor,and Congress Chairman of Shaanxi Province. After his retirement,he was placed under investigation for corruption.
Yao Mugen is a former Chinese politician from Jiangxi province. He served as Vice-Governor of Jiangxi from 2011 to 2014,and prior to that Chairman of the Jiangxi Development and Reform Commission,a provincial body with broad powers over the economy. He was removed from his posts and investigated by the Communist Party's anti-graft agency in March 2014.
Zhao Zhiyong is a former Chinese politician,banker,and regional official. He served as the Vice Governor of Jiangxi province between March 2002 to June 2008,and Communist Party Secretary of Jiujiang,from June 2005 to November 2006. He also served as Secretary-General of Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee (江西省委秘书长) from 2008 until June 2014,when he was dismissed for corruption.
Liang Bin is a former Chinese politician from Shanxi province. He spent most of his career working in his home province,successively serving as the Party Secretary of the cities of Shuozhou and Xinzhou,before being transferred to Hebei province in June 2008 to head the party's provincial Organization Department. Liang was investigated by the Chinese Communist Party's anti-graft agency in November 2014.
Han Xuejian is a former Chinese politician who spent most of his career in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province. He was investigated by the Chinese Communist Party's anti-graft agency in December 2014. Previously he served as the Communist Party Secretary of Daqing,and a Standing Committee of CCP Heilongjiang Provincial Committee.
Yang Weize is a former Chinese politician. He was the Communist Party Secretary of Nanjing,capital of Jiangsu Province,from 2011 to 2015. Prior to that,he served as the party secretary in the neighbouring city of Wuxi for seven years,and before that the Mayor of Suzhou. In 2015,Yang was put under investigation for corruption by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. He was tried and convicted on corruption charges and sentenced to twelve years and six months in prison in December 2016.
Miao Ruilin is a former Chinese politician,best known for his term as Mayor of Nanjing. In November 2018 he was placed under investigation by the Chinese Communist Party's anti-corruption agency. At the time he was serving as vice governor of Jiangsu.
Si Xinliang is a former Chinese politician. From 2010 to 2013,Si served as the Vice Chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial People's Political Consultative Conference,a mostly ceremonial legislative consultation body. Prior to that,Si served as the chief of the Organization Department of the Zhejiang provincial Communist party Committee. He worked for several years under Xi Jinping,who was serving as the party chief of Zhejiang.
Qiu He is a former Chinese politician who spent his career in Jiangsu and Yunnan provinces. He most recently held the post of the Deputy Communist Party Secretary of Yunnan. He was investigated by the Chinese Communist Party's anti-graft agency in March 2015.
