On 1 January 2023, Dieppe annexed parts of two neighbouring local service districts; revised census figures have not been released.

The company was founded in 1888 after Bell Telephone Company of Canada's attempt to establish telephone service in the Maritimes failed and purchased Bell Canada's New Brunswick assets in 1889. In 1973, NBTel purchased the last independent telephone operator in New Brunswick, giving it a monopoly for telephone service in the province.

The Highway starts out in Lawrence Station at the intersection of Route 3 The road travels mainly south for almost 60 km through mostly rural communities. The road does pass Rickets Island and runs along the Canada/US border as is the main route into St. Andrews where the road name changes to Bayview Drive and Mowat Drive. In St. Andrews the highway takes a sharp almost U-Turn before finally ending in the community of Bocabec.
