The Democratic Action Party is a centre-left social democratic political party in Malaysia. As one of four component parties of the Pakatan Harapan coalition, it formed the federal government after defeating Barisan Nasional in the 2018 Malaysian general election, ending the party's 53 year-long stay in the opposition. However, before the coalition finished its first term, defections from partnering parties caused it to lose power after 22 months, culminating in the 2020 Malaysian political crisis. It is the largest party in the Dewan Rakyat with 42 seats.
Lim Kit Siang is a Malaysian politician who served as 3rd Secretary-General, 2nd National Chairman, 1st Parliamentary Leader, 1st National Organising Secretary and 1st Mentor of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) opposition coalition from the founding of DAP in 1965 to his partial retirement in 2022 and 1st Chairman of the Central Policy and Strategic Planning Commission of DAP since 2004. He served as the 4th, 7th and 10th Leader of the Opposition from April 1973 to August 1974, again from November 1975 to November 1999 and once again from March 2004 to March 2008. In total, he served in the position for 29 years or almost three decades, making him the longest-serving leader of the opposition of Malaysia.
Lim Guan Eng is a Malaysian politician from the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition who has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Bagan, Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Air Putih since March 2008 and National Chairman of DAP since 20 March 2022. He was also the Secretary-general of DAP for 17 years from September 2004 to March 2022. He served as the Minister of Finance in the PH administration under former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad from May 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020, 4th Chief Minister of Penang from March 2008 to May 2018 and MP for Kota Melaka from August 1986 to November 1999.
Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon is a Malaysian politician. He was the Chief Minister of Penang from 1990 to 2008 and was appointed as a Senator; a member of the Dewan Negara, the upper house of the Malaysian Parliament. In April 2009, Koh was appointed Minister in the Prime Minister's Department by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak. He was famously known for contributing in the Sungai Pinang campaign where he took almost 10 years and failed to complete it.
Chong Eng, is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Penang State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administration under Chief Ministers Lim Guan Eng and Chow Kon Yeow and as Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Padang Lalang since May 2018. She served as Member of Parliament (MP) of for Bukit Mertajam from November 1999 to May 2013 and MLA of Penang for Batu Lancang from April 1995 to November 1999. She is the member, Women Chief and Deputy Secretary-General of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of the state ruling but federal opposition Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition, she also served as Women Chief of PH from March to September 2021. She is also Deputy Head for Women Parliamentary Caucus and sits as a Standing Order Committee member. She also served in the Women Crisis Center and Community AIDS Service Penang.
The Penang Global City Centre (PGCC) was a proposed project to be located at Penang Turf Club on Penang Island, Malaysia. The developers who proposed PGCC hoped to use 50,000 square metres divided between two five-star hotels, a 75,000 square metres Penang performing arts centre, a 400,000 square metres retail complex, 25,000 square metres divided between two office towers, 70,000 square metres of residential properties, a 100,000 square metres world-class convention centre, a 1,500 square metres observatory tower, 190,000 square metres of parking space, monorail transportation, and a public arena. Following public opposition due to an undemocratic decisionmaking process, no environmental assessment, and concerns about the impact on Penangites, the PGCC plan was blocked.

Love Malaysia Party is a Malaysian political party formed in 2009. Its members include former Gerakan vice-president and Member of Parliament Huan Cheng Guan, and former Sarawak State Assembly independent member for Ngemah seat; Gabriel Adit Demong. For the first time ever, the party contested the Sarawak state election, 2011 using its own logo after approval was given by the Election Commission. However, party lost its only seat, Ngemah, by 995 votes to Barisan Nasional, and their candidates were defeated in other seats such as Simunjan, Balai Ringin, Machan and Bekenu. Despite the defeat, PCM had contested in various seats in Penang and other states in Malaysia as well in the 13th General Elections.
The Penang Undersea Tunnel is a tunnel under construction between Butterworth on the mainland and George Town on the island of Penang in northern Malaysia. Construction began in 2016. The 7.2 km tunnel will connect Butterworth, Seberang Perai in the east to George Town, Penang Island in the west. When completed in 2025, it will become the first undersea tunnel in Malaysia and the second in Southeast Asia after the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE) in Singapore. The undersea tunnel is part of the Penang Roads and Tunnels project.
