Kelly Blair LaBounty (born November 24, 1970) is a retired American track and field Olympic athlete.

Collegiate career

Kelly Blair LaBounty attended the University of Oregon playing two sports, basketball and track and field. After two seasons she decided her basketball career would have to come to an end to focus on track. At Oregon she won a national title in the heptathlon in 1993. [1]

Olympics

Blair LaBounty placed sixth in the women's heptathlon in the 1996 Olympic Games held in Atlanta, Georgia, and also qualified for the 2000 Summer Olympics, but missed the games due to injury. [2] She defeated Jackie Joyner-Kersee in the Olympic trials of 1996. [1] Blair LaBounty placed third in the 1998 Goodwill Games in the heptathlon. [3]

Post-competitive career

She now lives in Eugene, Oregon, with her two sons Jacob and Lucas and her husband, former National Football League defensive end Matt LaBounty. She was hired as an assistant coach at the University of Oregon in 2006, [1] and served in that capacity until her position was eliminated in 2008. [2]

She was named to the University of Oregon Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004, and the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. [4]

Dr. Sheila Ann Hudson is an American former track and field athlete and Olympian, ranked among the all-time greatest U.S. competitors in the women's triple jump. Throughout her career, she won nine U.S. triple jump titles, and set two world bests and nine American records. Ashton James Eaton is a retired American decathlete and two-time Olympic champion, who holds the world record in the indoor heptathlon event. Eaton was the second decathlete to break the 9,000-point barrier in the decathlon, with 9,039 points, a score he bettered on August 29, 2015, when he beat his own world record with a score of 9,045 points, and remains the only person to exceed 9000 points twice. Shana L. Williams is a retired American track and field athlete who competed in the long jump. She is a two-time Olympian, having competed in her event at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics. Williams won the silver medal at the 1999 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Maebashi. Her personal best of 7.01 m ranks her as the fifth best American in the long jump on the all-time lists. She is a two-time USA Indoor champion and also won the gold medal at the 1998 Goodwill Games.

She was a three-time indoor long jump champion and won the 60-meter high hurdles in 1987. In her post-collegiate athletic career, she competed against Jackie Joyner-Kersee in the women's heptathlon and was a member of various U.S. national teams and a finalist in the heptathlon in the 1992 Olympics trials. She finished 1992 ranked 30th in the world.

Lindsey Anderson is an American middle distance and steeplechase runner. She is a two-time NCAA All-American, a four-time school record holder at Weber State University, and a six-time Big Sky Conference senior champion. She also set a personal best time of 9:30.75 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase by placing second at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, which guaranteed her a qualifying place for the Olympics. Maren Elizabeth Seidler is a retired American track and field athlete. She dominated the shot put from the mid-1960s through 1980. She won the event at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships eleven times starting in 1967, including nine in a row from 1972 to 1980. She was the American champion indoors nine times, 1968–9, 1972, 1974-5 and 1977 to 1980. She won her event at the United States Olympic Trials four straight times 1968–1980, a feat only equalled by only one woman, Madeline Manning, Edwin Moses is the only man to achieve four. Jackie Joyner Kersee is the only woman who has won more events at the Olympic Trials, split between the long jump and heptathlon. She competed in the Olympics three times, making the final twice. Her 1980 selection was quashed by the 1980 Summer Olympics boycott. Seidler did however receive one of 461 Congressional Gold Medals created especially for the spurned athletes.

Sharon Shepherd is an American track and field athlete, primarily known for throwing events. She is a multiple time American champion, winning both the shot put and discus at the 1963 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Prior to winning, she had finished in second place three times and third twice in the shot put.
