Giovanni Florio, known as John Florio, was an English linguist, poet, writer, translator, lexicographer, and royal language tutor at the Court of James I. He is recognised as the most important Renaissance humanist in England. Florio contributed 1,149 words to the English language, placing third after Chaucer and Shakespeare, in the linguistic analysis conducted by Stanford professor John Willinsky.

Rossi is an Italian surname, said to be the most common surname in Italy. Due to the diaspora, it is also very common in other countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Canada, France, Switzerland, the United States and Uruguay. Rossi is the plural of Rosso.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Italian Scots</span> Scottish people of Italian descent

Italian Scots are Scottish people of Italian descent. They can either be those whose ancestors emigrated to Scotland or Italian-born people residing in Scotland. This term can also refer to people of mixed Scottish and Italian descent. A recent Italian voter census estimated that there are between 70,000 to 100,000 people in Scotland of Italian descent or having Italian nationality, which is up to 1.9% of the overall Scottish population.

Frances Mary Lavinia Rossetti was a British educator who was the daughter, wife, sister and mother of important writers and artists. She was also a model of the paintings of her son Dante. Some photographic portraits of the Rossetti family by Lewis Carroll in the Victorian era are permanently displayed at the National Portrait Gallery, London.

<i>Ludienza</i> 1972 Italian–French film

L'udienza is a 1972 Italian–French satirical drama film directed by Marco Ferreri. In 2008, the film was included in the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage's 100 Italian films to be saved, a list of 100 films that "have changed the collective memory of the country between 1942 and 1978."

The Pellicanolibri editions is a publishing house founded in 1976 in Catania by the poet and writer Beppe Costa, with the specific intent to highlight authors and discover forgotten or unknown youth.

The U.S.- Italy Fulbright Commission is a bi-national, non-profit organization promoting opportunities for study, research, and teaching in Italy and the United States through competitive, merit-based grants. Since 1948, the commission acts as executor of the Fulbright Program to and from Italy.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Marco Lusini</span>

Marco Lusini was an Italian artist who worked in painting, sculpture, photography, and poetry. Born in Siena, he attended art school before relocating to Florence in 1960. Here, he involved himself in the "Bazzechi" photographic studio before becoming well known as a painter. He actively contributed to the city's cultural life, thereby becoming a friend and collaborator to such writers and poets as Mario Luzi, Alessandro Parronchi, Elvio Natali, Piero Santi, Elio Filippo Accrocca, Enzo Carli, Alfonso Gatto, Giulio Guberti, Franco Solmi, Carlo Segala, and Claudio Spadoni. He achieved fame throughout Italy and internationally.

Carlo Fornara was an Italian neo-impressionist and divisionist painter.
