The Pirate Party of Austria is a political party in Austria and part of the global Pirate Party movement which advocates what has come to be known as Pirate politics. It is mostly known for opposing the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. The party was founded by Florian Hufsky and Jürgen 'Juxi' Leitner during the run-up to the 2006 election in Austria, but failed to gather the necessary signatures to contest the election. On 14 March 2010, the PPÖ ran for municipal elections for its first time in the city of Bregenz and received 1.62% of the vote, however failed to win any seats.
The Pirate Party Germany, commonly known as Pirates, is a political party in Germany founded in September 2006 at c-base. It states general agreement with the Swedish Piratpartiet as a party of the information society; it is part of the international movement of pirate parties and a member of the Pirate Parties International.
The Czech Pirate Party often known simply as the Pirates is a liberal progressive political party in the Czech Republic, founded in 2009. The party was founded as a student-driven grassroots movement campaigning for political transparency, civil rights and direct democracy.
The Pirate Party Switzerland is a political party in Switzerland, based on the model of the Swedish Pirate Party. The party was founded on 12 July 2009 in Zürich, by about 150 people. By the end of February 2012, the PPS had around about 1,800 members.
Slovak Pirate Party is a non-governmental organisation established in December 2011 as the Pirate Party of the Slovak Republic. The organisation is based on the model of the Swedish Pirate Party. The party is a member of the Pirate Parties International.
Florian Hufsky was an Austrian new media artist, computer hacker, political activist, founder and former board member of the Pirate Party of Austria. He studied graphic design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, but died by suicide before he could finish his studies.
Denis Simonet a.k.a. "SciFi" from Ipsach is a Swiss politician, and was the first president of the Pirate Party Switzerland (PPS). In April 2012 he was elected as a board member of Pirate Parties International. He also is the chairman of the court of arbitration of PPS and the spokesman of his party.
The Pirate Party Luxembourg is a registered political party in Luxembourg. The party follows the pirate political doctrine developed by the Swedish Pirate Party. It champions citizen's rights, improved data protection and privacy for physical persons, more transparency of government, free access to information and education. Beyond this, it calls for an in-depth overhaul of copyright and patent law, and opposes every form of censorship. A fundamental principle is grassroots democracy, which gives the possibility to each member to help shape the future of the party. Like most parties in Luxembourg, the Pirate Party is vigorously pro-European. It is a member of Pirate Parties International, the umbrella organisation of the international Pirate Party movement.
The Pirate Movement is an unregistered political party in Serbia. It strived to ban copyright based systems, reform intellectual property law, protect freedom of speech, preserve and promote net neutrality and privacy, introduce liquid democracy in Serbia and defend personal privacy as basis for the sovereignty of the citizen. On January 22, 2022, the party was accepted as an observer member of the European Pirate Party.
The Italian Pirate Party is a political party in Italy, founded on 16 September 2006, modelled on the Pirate Party of Sweden, founded earlier that year. It supports reform of copyright and patent law, privacy and freedom of expression.
The Pirate Party of Ukraine is a political party in Ukraine. Based on the model of the Swedish Pirate Party, it supports reform of copyright law, the abolition of patents, and respect for privacy. The party was not a founding member of Pirate Parties International but it joined them in April 2013. As of August 2013 the party is not officially registered as such by the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice.

This often involves opposition to patent-based monopolies. Furthermore, Pirate Party members tend to support the use of free and open-source software, free sharing of knowledge, information privacy, transparency, freedom of information, free speech, anti-corruption, net neutrality, importance of cybersecurity and protecting digital infrastructure from threats, decentralized technologies and platforms, self-governance in online spaces, strong encryption and anonymity to protect personal data and individual privacy both online and offline from mass surveillance, censorship and Big Tech's misuse.
The Pirate Party Turkey is a political organization in Turkey based on the model of the Swedish Pirate Party. It was firstly founded by Serdar Kuzuloğlu and İsmail Hakkı Polat on August 26, 2009. After getting dissolved in 2010 due to infighting and disagreements, it got refound in 2013 by Serhat Koç, Barış Büyükakyol and Şevket Uyanık. The organization is inactive since 2015 and a reorganization attempt in 2017 got unsuccessful. The organization got a third refoundation on January 21, 2021, which is still in process of reorganizing the old supporters while trying to appeal to the new generation.
Lola Voronina is a Russian politician of the Pirate Party of Russia (PPRU), and has been beside the Russian born German Grégory Engels of the Pirate Party Germany co-chairperson of Pirate Parties International (PPI) since 15 April 2012.
The Pirate Party, short - Pirates was a political party in Croatia founded in March 2012 and the Croatian section of the Pirate Parties International movement. It follows the example of the Swedish Pirate Party as a party of the information society and it fights for freedom of information and the protection of privacy. The party was removed from the state registry of political parties by 2018.
Jasmin Freigang is a German politician who was a member of the Saarland regional parliament from 2012 to 2017, representing the Pirate Party.
The Pirate Party Berlin is the state chapter of the Pirate Party Germany in the city-state of Berlin and was the first chapter of the Pirates to enter a Landtag, getting elected to the Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin in 2011. The party divides itself into so-called Crews at the local level. Work groups on specific themes are called Squads. The Pirate Security Conference is an annual conference about security topics in Munich since 2015. Since 2016 it cooperates with the Munich Security Conference. It is organized by Pirate Party Germany and international Pirate Parties. Most topics are about the impact of digital changes on foreign security and politics. The event is primarily aimed at all European citizens, parties and associations.
Patrick Breyer is a German digital rights activist, jurist, Pirate Party Germany politician, and – since 2019 – Member of the European Parliament (MEP). From 2012 to 2017 he was a member of the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein and from April 2016 until the end of the legislative period he was also the leader of the Pirate group in that assembly. Breyer is one of four European Pirate Party MEPs in the 2019–2024 term along with three Czech Pirate Party members, all of whom are members of the Greens / EFA parliamentary group.
Anke Domscheit-Berg is a German politician and activist. She has been a member of the Bundestag since 2017, when she was elected on the party list of The Left, without being a party member. She joined the party in 2021 following her nomination to the top female position on the party election list in the state of Brandenburg. Previously, she was a member of the Pirate Party Germany and the Greens. She is married to Daniel Domscheit-Berg. In 2010 she received the Berliner Frauenpreis.
