List of cathedrals in Ukraine and cathedral temples that includes temples that used to have cathedra.
Since 1992 there has been a movement to organize a separate Ukrainian Orthodox Church independently of the Russian church. In 2018, that church became the Orthodox Church of Ukraine recognized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople and now led by Epiphanius. This church is unrecognized by the Russian Orthodox Church.
All of the Russian Orthodox Church temples in Ukraine are organized as the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate).
In addition, a smaller independent church exists led by Filaret, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Kyiv Patriarchate
For disambiguation purposes the church recognized by Constantinople is identified as Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), the Russian Orthodox Church is identified as the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) (UOC-MP) and the church led by Filaret as the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Kyiv Patriarchate) (UOC-Kyiv).
The Russian Orthodox Church continues to possess the highest number of dioceses and major temples in Ukraine. Many of the dioceses were created after the fall of the Soviet Union in 2000s and later. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine ownership of several sites has become disputed.

Cathedrals of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church:
The Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church was one of the three major Eastern Orthodox churches in Ukraine in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, together with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Kyiv Patriarchate (UOC-KP) and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP). It began in 1921 during the dissolution of the Russian Empire as part of the Ukrainian independence movement and in order to restore the Ukrainian Orthodox Church that existed in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1620–1685 and was annexed by the Moscow Patriarchate without approval of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. The UAOC came to an end in December 2018 as it united with the UOC-KP into the newly formed Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU).
The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) is a major archiepiscopal sui iuris ("autonomous") Eastern Catholic church that is based in Ukraine. As a particular church of the Catholic Church, it is in full communion with the Holy See. It is the third-largest particular church in the Catholic Church after the Latin Church and the Syro-Malabar Church. The major archbishop presides over the entire Church but is not distinguished with the patriarchal title. The incumbent Major Archbishop is Sviatoslav Shevchuk.
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Kyiv Patriarchate was an Orthodox church in Ukraine, in existence from 1992 to 2018. Its patriarchal cathedral was St Volodymyr's Cathedral in Kyiv.
Patriarch Filaret is a Ukrainian religious leader, currently serving as the primate and Patriarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Kyiv Patriarchate. The Orthodox Church of Ukraine, that he left in 2019, views him as the Honorary Patriarch emeritus, while the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople recognises him as former Metropolitan of Kyiv. He was formerly the Metropolitan of Kiev and the Exarch of Ukraine in the Patriarchate of Moscow (1966–1992). After joining the Kyiv Patriarchate, he was defrocked and in 1997 excommunicated by the ROC.
The Catholic Church in Ukraine is part of the worldwide Catholic Church, under the spiritual leadership of the Pope in Rome. Catholics make up 10% of the population of Ukraine.
Metropolitan John was an Orthodox hierarch born in the Ternopil area of Western Ukraine, which at that time was a territory of Poland. Defrocked from the Russian Orthodox Church, metropolitan Ioann played a notable role in revival of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.
Theodore George Romzha was a Ukrainian Catholic prelate who served as Bishop of the Greek Catholic Eparchy of Mukachevo from 1944 to 1947. Assassinated by the NKVD, he was beatified as a martyr by Pope John Paul II on 27 June 2001.
The Major Archeparchy of Kyiv–Galicia (Kyiv–Halych) is a Ukrainian Greek Catholic Major Archeparchy of the Catholic Church, that is located in Ukraine. It was erected on 21 August 2005 with the approval of Pope Benedict XVI. There are other territories of the Church that are not located in Ukraine. The cathedral church — the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ — is situated in the city of Kyiv. The metropolitan bishop is — ex officio — the Primate of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. The incumbent major archbishop is Sviatoslav Shevchuk.
Spyrydon was the Ukrainian Orthodox archbishop of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyivan Patriarchate (1992–1994).
The Metropolis of Kyiv was an autonomous metropolis of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople with center in Kyiv after its formation in 988 as a result of the Christianization of Rus by Volodymyr the Great until January 6, 2019, when it received the Tomos on Autocephaly.
