Specialty Records was an American record label founded in Los Angeles in 1945 by Art Rupe. It was known for rhythm and blues, gospel, and early rock and roll, and recorded artists such as Little Richard, Guitar Slim, Percy Mayfield, and Lloyd Price. Rupe established the company under the name Juke Box Records but changed it to Specialty in 1946 when he parted company with a couple of his original partners. Rupe's daughter, Beverly, restarted the label in the 1980s.
Sippie Wallace was an American blues singer, pianist and songwriter. Her early career in tent shows gained her the billing "The Texas Nightingale". Between 1923 and 1927, she recorded over 40 songs for Okeh Records, many written by her or her brothers, George and Hersal Thomas. Her accompanists included Louis Armstrong, Johnny Dodds, Sidney Bechet, King Oliver, and Clarence Williams. Among the top female blues vocalists of her era, Wallace ranked with Ma Rainey, Ida Cox, Alberta Hunter, and Bessie Smith.
Katie Webster, born Kathryn Jewel Thorne, was an American boogie-woogie pianist.
Admirl Amos Easton, better known by the stage name Bumble Bee Slim, was an American Piedmont blues singer and guitarist.
Samuel Leroy Taylor, Jr., known as Sam "The Man" Taylor, was an American jazz, rhythm and blues, and blues tenor saxophonist.
John Clyde Copeland was an American Texas blues guitarist and singer. In 1983, he was named Blues Entertainer of the Year by the Blues Foundation. He is the father of blues singer Shemekia Copeland.

Blues & Rhythm is a British music magazine dealing with all aspects of blues and gospel music. Founded in July 1984 it is - along with its American counterpart Living Blues - considered to be the premier magazine for all aspects of research into blues and rhythm & blues music.
Boyd Gilmore was an American Delta blues singer, guitarist and songwriter. Among the songs he wrote were "All in My Dreams", "Believe I'll Settle Down", "I Love My Little Woman" and "If That's Your Girl". Gilmore also recorded a version of fellow Delta bluesman Robert Johnson's track, "Ramblin' on My Mind".
Luther "Houserocker" Johnson was an American electric blues singer, guitarist and songwriter. He recorded two studio albums in his lifetime and was a regular live performer over seven decades. He is not to be confused with Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson, nor Luther "Georgia Boy" Johnson.
