Equatorial Guinea competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, which was held from 13 to 29 August 2004. The country's participation at Athens marked its sixth appearance in the Summer Olympics since its début at the 1984 Summer Olympics. The delegation included two athletics competitors: Roberto Mandje and Emilia Mikue Ondo in the long and middle distance disciplines respectively. Mikue Ondo was selected as the flag bearer for the opening ceremony. Both athletes did not advance further than the first round of their respective events with Mandje failing to make the start of the men's 3000 metres steeplechase.
Guinea-Bissau has sent athletes to every Summer Olympic Games held since 1996, although the country has never won an Olympic medal. No athletes from Guinea-Bissau have competed in any Winter Olympic Games.
Guinea-Bissau competed at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics, the inaugural Youth Olympic Games, held in Singapore from 14 August to 26 August 2010.
Guinea-Bissau competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This was the nation's fifth consecutive appearance at the Olympics.
Leopoldina Ross Davyes is an amateur Guinea-Bissauan freestyle wrestler, who competed in the women's flyweight category. Ross captured a gold medal in the same division at the 2000 African Wrestling Championships, and later represented Guinea-Bissau at the 2004 Summer Olympics, where she became the nation's flag bearer in the opening ceremony. During her sporting career, she has been training for the Wrestling Club of Sportschool in Bissau under her personal coach Alberto Pereira.
Guinea-Bissau competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, from August 5 to 21, 2016. It was the nation's sixth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics.
Taciana Cesar is a Brazilian born Bissau-Guinean judoka. She competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the women's 48 kg event, in which she was eliminated in the second round by Galbadrakhyn Otgontsetseg She was the flag bearer for Guinea-Bissau during the closing ceremony.
