Qatar competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, from 13 to 29 August 2004.
Qatar has competed in 10 Summer Olympic Games. They have never competed in the Winter Olympic Games. Their first ever Olympic gold medal was won by Fares El-Bakh in weightlifting at the 2020 Summer Olympics, followed by a gold medal for Mutaz Essa Barshim in men's high jump. They have also won one silver and four bronze medals.
Qatar participated in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore.
Bahiya Mansour Al-Hamad is a rifle shooter from Qatar. She was named the Best Female Athlete of the Year 2011-2012 by the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC). She qualified for the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, where she served as the flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony.
During the parade of nations portion of the 1984 Summer Olympics opening ceremony, athletes from each country participating in the Olympics paraded in the arena, preceded by their flag. The flag was borne by a sportsperson from that country chosen either by the National Olympic Committee or by the athletes themselves to represent their country.
