This is a list of Azerbaijani regions by Human Development Index as of 2022. [1] This also includes Baku, the capital and largest city, but excludes the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and Kalbajar-Lachin.

Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic

Nakhchivan enjoys a high Human Development Index; its socio-economic prowess far exceeds that of Azerbaijan itself. According to the report of Nakhchivan AR Committee of Statistics on June 30, 2018 for the end of 2017, some socio-economical data, including the following, are unveiled:

Nakhchivan is the capital and largest city of the eponymous Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, a true exclave of Azerbaijan, located 450 km (280 mi) west of Baku. The municipality of Nakhchivan consists of the city of Nakhchivan, the settlement of Əliabad and the villages of Başbaşı, Bulqan, Haciniyyət, Qaraçuq, Qaraxanbəyli, Tumbul, Qarağalıq, and Daşduz. It is spread over the foothills of Zangezur Mountains, on the right bank of the Nakhchivan River at an altitude of 873 m (2,864 ft) above sea level.

Kangarli District is one of the 7 districts of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan. The district borders the districts of Babek, Sharur, Nakhchivan city, as well as the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia and the West Azerbaijan Province of Iran. Its capital is Givrag, while its largest settlement is Khok. As of 2020, the district had a population of 32,700.

Anaqut is a village and municipality in the Ordubad District of Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan. It is located in the near of the Ordubad-Unus highway, 26 km away from the district center. The Venend river flows through center of the village. Its population mainly is busy with gardening, vegetable-growing and animal husbandry. There are club, library and a medical center in the village. It has a population of 428.

Qaraxanbəyli is a village and municipality in the Nakhchivan city of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Azerbaijan. It is located in the south of the city of Nakhchivan, next to it. The international railway of Azerbaijan used to be passed through the village. Its population is busy with grain-growing, vegetable-growing, animal husbandry, fruit-growing and horticulture. There are secondary school, club, library, cultural center and a medical center in the village. It has a population of 2,397.

Havuş is a village and municipality in the Sharur District of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic enclave in Azerbaijan. It is located 35 kilometers west of the district center on the slope of the Daralayaz ridge, which forms the border with Armenia. Havuş is about 2,000 meters above sea level. There is a secondary school, club, and a medical centre in the village. As of 2005, Havuş had a population of 114. The settlement ofTamaşalı and a cemetery dating back to the Middle Ages are located within its territory.

Isa Habibbayli is an Azerbaijani politician and academic. He has served in the Azerbaijan parliament.

The Nakhchivan Literature Museum is a museum, research center and educational institution in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan. The Nakhchivan Literature Museum is named after the Azerbaijani journalist, educator and satiric writer Jalil Mammadguluzadeh.

The Nakhchivan Garrison, also referred to as the Nakhchivan Army, formerly known as the 5th Army Corps, is a regional military formation of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. The structures of all service branches and militarized institution in the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic together form the Nakhchivan Garrison. It is currently led by Colonel General Karam Mustafayev.

The Nakhchivan Branch of the Military Lyceum named after Jamshid Nakhchivanski, also known as the Heydar Aliyev Military Lyceum is a state school, specializing in military science located in the city of Nakhchivan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Major General Mahammad Hasanov is the current head of the lyceum. Close to 400 cadets currently study in the lyceum branch.
