Asian Games appearances (overview)

Macau, China participated at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, from 18 August to 2 September 2018. The country have prepared more than 120 athletes to compete in 16 event at the Games. [2] Macau announced its team of 110 athletes and 56 officials, medical staff, team leaders, coaches, that will take part in 16 competitions: swimming, diving, artistic swimming, athletics, badminton, bowling, boxing, canoeing, cycling, fencing, golf, judo, karate, squash, table tennis, taekwondo, triathlon, and wushu. [3]

Boxing

Ng Kuok Kun represented Macau in the boxing competition at the Games. Although Ng is a professional boxer and has had 13 professional fights, he was eligible to take part in the Asian Games alongside amateurs as he has not had 20 professional fights. [8] [7]

Golf

Macau entered six golfers (4 men's and 2 women's) who competed in the individual and team event. Several national golf associations complained to the Court of Arbitration for Sport that some of the Macau players was a professional golfers, but the CAS ruled that none of the players were professional. Iran at the 2018 Asian Games

Iran is currently competing in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. Iran has competed at the Asian Games since the first event in 1951 Delhi, and the best achievement was in 1974, when the country hosted the event in Tehran, by ranked second with the acquisition of 36 gold, 28 silver and 17 bronze medals. At the latest edition in Incheon, the country wrapped up its campaign with 57 medals in all - 21 gold, 18 silver and 18 bronze.

Mongolia at the 2018 Asian Games

Mongolia is participating in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. Mongolia made its first appearance at the Asian Games in 1974 Tehran, and have a total 137 medals, including 20 gold, 37 silver, and 80 bronze. At the last games in Incheon, Mongolia had collected 21 medals, and standing in the 16th position in medals tally.

East Timor participated at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, from 18 August to 2 September 2018. The country is planned to send 64 athletes who compete in 12 different sports.

Myanmar at the 2018 Asian Games

Myanmar competed at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, from 18 August to 2 September 2018. Myanmar has participated in all the editions of the Asian Games except in the 1986 Games in Seoul. Volleyball player Zaw Lwin Tun, had been honored to be the flag-bearer for the country at the opening ceremony.

Laos participated in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. Laos first competed at the Asian Games in 1974 Tehran, and the best achievement was in the last edition of 2014 Incheon, when the country gained a silver, and 2 bronze medals.

Tajikistan at the 2018 Asian Games

Tajikistan participated in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. This event marks as the seventh appearance for Tajikistan since 1994 Hiroshima Games. The best achievement by medals was in 2006 Doha by collecting 2 gold and 2 bronze medals. At the last edition in Incheon, Tajikistan captured a gold, a silver, and 3 bronze medals, made the country standing in 23rd position, as their best ranking since the first occasion.

Yemen at the 2018 Asian Games

Yemen participated in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. Yemen has participated seven times at the Games since 1990 Beijing, and collected 2 bronze medals this far.

Uzbekistan at the 2018 Asian Games

Uzbekistan participated in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. Uzbekistan made its debut at the Asian Games in 1994 Hiroshima, and the best achievement was in 2002 Busan, with the acquisition of 15 gold, 12 silver and 24 bronze medals. At the last edition in Incheon, the country wrapped up its campaign with 45 medals in all - nine gold, 14 silver and 22 bronze.

Vietnam at the 2018 Asian Games

Vietnam competed at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. The country surpassed its target of winning 3 gold medals at the Games by concluding the competition with 5 gold medals, 15 silver medals, and 19 bronze medals, ranking 16th out of 46 participating members of the Olympic Council of Asia.

Bhutan at the 2018 Asian Games

Bhutan participated in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. Bhutan first competed at the Asian Games in 1986 Seoul. At the last edition of 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, a total of 16 Bhutanese athletes took part in seven different sports. This time, 24 Bhutanese athletes will compete in four different sports including archery, boxing, taekwondo and golf.

Jordan at the 2018 Asian Games

Jordan competed in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. This was Jordan's eighth time competing in the Asian Games, following their first participation in 1986 Seoul. The team has won a total of 33 medals since, including three gold, 15 silver and 15 bronze.

Afghanistan at the 2018 Asian Games

Afghanistan competed at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, from 18 August to 2 September 2018. Afghanistan first participated at the Asian Games since the first Games in 1951 Delhi, and have collected five silver and 6 bronze medals until the last event in 2014 Incheon.

Cambodia at the 2018 Asian Games

Cambodia competed in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. This event marks the 12th Asian Games appearance for Cambodia since making their debut in 1954.

Taekwondo competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru are scheduled to be held between July 26th to 29th, 2019 at the Polideportivo Villa El Salvador, which will also host the volleyball competitions.
